They are worse than an identity crisis. They are just flat out a crisis. You have to admire their tenacity though. No matter how ****** things get for them, they keep chugging right along, like nothing ever happened. Bless their hearts....they try.
They just changed mascots...SEVEN YEARS AGO! If I was in charge of marketing and branding Ole Miss, I would just laugh. Lord.

He went to Southern Miss and I have pictures of him in a State jersey when he did a concert at the Hump way back when. I would think he would have something to say about it. I'm a Parrothead and it disgusts me.

Desperately getting any mascot with "black" in it left them with choices of black bears and black birds.
I also heard talk of them wanting a tank at the stadium with sharks in it...Do they not 17'n know what "land" means? It blows my mind. Check picture below, do these sharks look to be on land?

Good grief. If I lived in a vacuum and you were describing to me how difficult it has been for them to just let go of the confederacy, I would not believe it. But I've witnessed it, embarrassingly, as I share the same state as them. Why not compromise and have a bear suit and a shark suit? Put a little blue t-shirt on each of them that says "Rebel" and move on? It doesn't much matter what their on the field mascot is so long as they refuse to quit being Rebels.

The only thing dumber and funnier than the black bear mascot is an absurd terrestrial shark-man created by SNL for a sketch to spoof Jaws. Fitting since the plantation is going to be spoofing a credible college football team for the foreseeable future.
You know now that I think about it, the landsharks actually would have made perfect sense back when the plantation had a fake swimming and diving program that Jake Gibbs used to fund schollys for the baseball team.
Hey bears, why don't you make this guy your on-field mascot. He comes with his own catch phrase that you could put on t-shirts, rally the troops with, etc and he already has a costume.

The Landshark sign being thrown up by today's Ole Miss defense is akin to whatever celebrating Ron Cooper's defense used to do after a tackle when we were getting blown out by LSU and Auburn, usually 47-6 or whatever. God I hated those days and this is just as embarrassing for Ole Miss. I find humor in the fact that they just don't realize it.
