following a Ricky Shields type career, excellent junior season and then just so up and down inconsistent with a few good games and several no shows and supposed friction with Douby

Geo is what he is. This board overrates him so much that if you talk about him realistically you get attacked.

He’s a career 11/3/3 guy who hasn’t averaged over 12.x a game. He’s gone for 20 9x out of 120 games. He’s never been top 3 of the starters in field goal percentage on any Rutgers team he’s played on. If you include anyone who’s played more than 50 minutes he’s 11th 9th 7th 5th on roster in field goal percentage.

He has only one career game winning shot. Against a bad Nebraska team we should’ve handled. He hit a 3 to force OT against a bad northwestern team. Is he more myth than legend? Idk if I’ll go there but the argument can be made.

When he is scoring, he’s a good glue guy, that can make up for his below average big ten guard athleticism.

That’s all to say, we desperately need the good Geo for this Rutgers team to be successful, because what’s behind him isn’t that great either.

Sporatically Spectacular.

I was tracking his stats every game last year and the good game win bad game loss was so apparently.

You are right. Next game matters. Big time.

This is what everybody was saying that was shouted down last week. He’s great sometimes and the just disappears. The high and lows with him and Harper are insane.

he certainly hasn’t been a leader this year and it’s disappointing that his play has regressed too.

Geo was always more popular than good on the basketball court. People wait 5 games for him to play well or ten games for him to make an important shot and swear that is GEO!!! Most of the games of his career he is mediocre at best.

He’s been hurt. Not explosive like we saw the end of last year. A disappointing end of his career to be sure.

Inconsistent performances are the best words to describe Baker and most players on the team.Young has been the most consistent double digit scorer.

The last two games are a good recap of the season.Harper and Baker both scored over twenty points against Indiana and the team scored over seventy points.Against Nebraska Harper and Baker failed to even score twenty points combined and the team was lucky to even score fifty points. No consistency in performance in a game that had monumental impact on post season play.

Geo has single-handedly won us many games. It’s not fair to expect him to do it every single game. He is a superstar, at some point on of the other 7 guys needs to also show up though

I’ll remember him as the most clutch player in Rutgers basketball history.

Some of you either have very short term memories or don’t watch as much as you post.
Absolutely. Close game on the line he's the guy. But its easy to remember the highlights.

If we don’t make the tournament , his time here goes down as a failure . Same class as douby and Geoff billet . Although douby was a much better player and billet has the better signature moment.
Baker’s supporting cast is better than both the guys had . Team just needs to get to tournament

He doesn't have to make the tournament. He's already changed Rutgers. What a few fans on here think - doesn't change that at all

I just don't get this Senior year by him. And yeah, I know he was hurt but that was long ago. In 20 games and 30 mins per game he has only been to the foul line 22 times! He is 29 of 94 for 31% from three. But he's 50 of 99 for 50% from inside the line. Never seems to go hard to the basket anymore either.
What is he thinking? Worried about getting hurt again?

Sure there was no tournament last year. But does that mean we discount what Geo did down the stretch? We passed the test last year and Geo was a huge part of that. I don't think Covid should penalize the accomplishments last year. To say Geo and RU didn't make the tournament last year, while literally correct, it totally negates their accomplishments.

This year is yet to be determined.

I don’t think anyone is really discounting what Geo did last year. It’s more about putting what what did in context. For example, Maryland and Purdue last year:

Geo in 73 minutes
30 pts 48% FG 7asst 4to 8reb 2 stl 1 block

Young in 60 minutes
27 pts 57% FG 5asst 2to 6reb 3stl 0 block

He’s lauded for NW last year he went off 10-17 25 pts shot to force OT. Played a great game.

Nebraska GW 2 of 8 6 pts 2 TO 3 Asst

Oh geez.. making this into a Geo and JY thing again.

Yes, JY was a huge part of last years accomplishments too. They were both huge parts of a team that did enough to get into the tournament.

You missed my point entirely. My point being there wasn't a tournament last year.. so for some Geo's legacy = not getting into the tournament (if they don't make it this year).

When in reality, it is a lot more nuanced.
