George Raveling has died.

Very sorry to learn of George's passing. He struck me as a thoughtful and unique person. He was on the verge of doing some amazing things at Iowa. As he himself said, he regretted not sticking with Iowa longer.

Thoughts and prayers are with the Raveling family during this challenging time.

He was coach a couple years before my real fandom, but his recruits and Dr. Tom coaching them up was a great combination to get me started as a fan.

Coach R was a heck of a guy. Iowa basketball was put on the map by a lot of his recruits.
