I think the main complaint everyone has is the inconsistency of the calls, if they were bad about the same thing over and over, fine but its different each time.

I rewatched the first half of Iowa/RU, and both teams were allowed to be physical with little to no foul calls. Yet, Myles Johnson against tOSU got 4 BS calls, two in the first half(posting up offensive foul/acting, his second, and light bodying, his third) and two in the 2nd half(a player running into him, his 4th and standing straight with no contact, his 5th) with less physical play.

@ Iowa, We led 43-38 1st half PF 4-3, 2nd half PF 17-13 Walton, Daily, Green
1 PF to 5 PFs in 17:43-16:39
Last year, 7 fouls by 14:27 in the 2nd half(7-3). FT 18-25 (1-4 1st, 17-21 2nd)
RU 15-21 (3-4 1st, 12-17 2nd) lost 80-85

Tied 35-35 1st half PF 7-4, 2nd half PF 14-9 McJunkins, Pfieffer, Boroski
1 PF to 7 PFs 12:22-11:03
This year, 7 fouls by 11:03 in the 2nd half(7-3). FT 18-23 (4-8 1st, 14-15 2nd)
RU 4-12 (1-3, 3-9) Lost 75-77
Same story 2 years in a row, 2nd half.

1st foul Geo blow by(and1) 18:15
*That horrible Non 5 sec call, Garza one dribble, held ball 18 to 11*
*led to 2 pts* *16:35-16:20* 43-38, 43-40
Rutgers 50-43
2nd Reiber -*Garza hooked Reiber* 12:22
I know Reiber would never get that call.
3rd McConnell reach 12:03
4th Young reach 11:59
5th Mulcahy *battling O.Rebound**Iowa foul or no call* 11:34
6th Reiber hand check 11:11
7th Myles accidental 11:03
Rutgers still leading 50-45, after 2FTs(1n1)

8th foul Blow by Jacob Young(and1)

4th was Weiskamp on Myles, 10:38
5th was Garza on 4:38
6th offensive foul Weiskamp at 4:11
"7th-9th foul" 3:09-end, where we went FT 2-5(1-2,1-2,0-1)miss 1n1

That was the game, and how refs can alter games.

That was a blatant HACK by Bohannan on Geo. Blatant. I don’t care that it was the final play and you should let the players play, blah blah blah, the refs HAVE to call that foul. They just have to.

Combined with the blatant non-call in the first few minutes of the game when Myles got hacked going up for a layup, you really have to wonder... I mean, these are easy, obvious fouls that aren’t being call in our favor, they’re not “questionable.”
It wasn’t a bump. It was an arm hack. That has to be called. Terrible no call there

I think the main complaint everyone has is the inconsistency of the calls.

I rewatched the first half, and both teams were bodying each other multiple times harder to no call. Yet, Myles Johnson got 4 BS calls, two in the first half(posting up offensive foul, his second, and light bodying, his third) and two in the 2nd half(a player running into him, his 4th and standing straight with no contact, his 5th) in the tOSU game with less contact happening in the first half of RU/Iowa

Just like the Iowa game last year, we had 7 fouls in the 2nd half before we could blink.

We led 43-38 first half PF 4-3, 2nd half PF 17-13 Walton, Daily, Green
Last year, 7 fouls by 14:27 in the 2nd half(7-3). FT 18-25 (1-4 1st, 17-21 2nd)

RU 4-12 (1-3, 3-9)

Rutgers 50-43

I know Reiber would never get the call
3rd Young(1st) slight bodying 12:03
4th Young(2nd) handcheck 11:59
5th *Mulcahy battling rebound**Iowa foul* 11:34
6th Reiber hand check 11:11
7th Myles accidental 11:03
Rutgers still leading 50-45, after 2FTs(1n1) but
PFs should be Iowa 5 Rutgers 5(PF 12-11)

7th foul wasn't until 3:09.

That was the game, and how refs can alter games.

exactly. It’s the inconsistency that drives me crazy. It was like a tackle football game the first half and then magically the second half becomes a touch foul fest. I guarantee Fran cried about the non calls. I don’t really care how refs call a game, just call it the same for both teams, both halves.

I've seen a ton of calls like this and in fact much lighter contact. Didn't Geo get called on a touch foul on a 3 point shot against Purdue in the final 30 seconds when it mattered? And his foul had no bearing on the shot.. This foul had an effect on his shot. It was clearly a bad no call. That said, we had plenty of opportunities to win. Iowa got away with one. As did we on the purdue backcourt no call.

Just don't throw away ur eyes in an attempt to be unbiased.

Great point as long as by saying “touch foul” you mean “didn’t even touch him, foul”.

And that’s what this boils down to - inexplicable misses. Not, “oh that call could’ve gone either way” on a block/charge or something.

Purdue gets a foul and 3 shots under a minute left when Geo didn’t even COME CLOSE to touching the shooter.

Next game, Geo gets clearly slapped hard on the wrist and nothing. And right in front of the ref who minutes earlier calls a phantom foul for Garza wayyy behind the play.

Its inconsistency in the midst of blatant misses that have triggered us lol

But, as they say in poker, “as played”, Iowa did what they needed to do.

Inconsistency is exactly what the BTN guys called out.

If I remember, the final four Virginia vs Auburn, there was a foul in the final second on an Auburn player, as the Virginia player was coming down after missing a 3 point shot. Cost Auburn the game..so if they call that, in those circumstances, there is no reason why the could/should not call the foul against Bohannan there..
On final play, Would have been a fitting ending to win on a shot at the buzzer the way they beat us 2 years ago, especially at the expense of a Wieskamp miss...

If that foul was called we could have won the game despite the FT shooting prior. Its pathetic some fans think as punishment for shooting poorly from the FT line prior to that any terrible call doesn't matter and we deserve to lose no matter what as punishment. LOSER mentality
Who are you calling "loser mentality?"

I literally have no idea how anyone argues that is not a foul. In real time I was screaming at the TV. Bohannon's arm is coming down with force while Geo's arms are gathering and rising for a jumper and then the ball wildly flies out of there. Its the most obvious and easiest of all basketball foul calls - that is when a defensive player swipes downward. The only time that's not ever called a foul is if you can clearly hear the defensive player making contact with the ball. And if that did happen the ball would've went straight back down to the court.

That was a terribly terribly obvious foul call that was missed. And don't give me any of that nonsense about "that point in the game". The call should've been reactive that it was so obvious. Also they didn't hesistate to call a foul on Ron during the rebound off the free throw just a few moments earlier which was FAR less obvious and obstructive .

The end result of what was a foul, still resulted in a perfect pass by Mathis to Myles and what should have been an easy grab and lay up.
Garza took himself out of the play but distracted Myles enough to where he fumbled the ball.
Gotta make that play.... we aren’t talking about the foul if Myles makes the shot

Weird part about the refs yesterday is they let a bunch of contact go in the first half and then partly through the second half they started calling all this ticky tack crap. Why do they change the way they officiate the game? A high fouls game usually is beneficial to our opponents as we play tough d and usually shoot free throws like crap.

Geo cleared out a bit with the left arm, which could've been called, just before he got fouled on the arm - to me both "fouls" are often let get at the end of the game which I'm ok with.
If you watch closely enough it seems everyone does that when driving with their off hand. Agree it could be often called but it almost never is.

There is no ref in the country that will call that in the final seconds on a step back jumper at the top of the key.

So your view is that you can just blatantly hack away as long as it’s the end of the game? And you think that’s okay?

Some people try not to be rude... I have no such hangups. You and anyone else who (a) makes arguments that fouls don’t count because “it’s the final seconds” or (b) can’t wrap their head around the fact that multiple factors can impact the result of a game (i.e. both reffing and pour foul shooting) is a ******* retard, full stop.

And to be clear, I didn’t see that foul in real time, there was a lot of traffic there, I can forgive someone for missing it. But it was obviously a foul (on the replay) and it was obviously missed. It wasn’t some little touch foul either that “they won’t call at the end of the game.”

my complaints about reffing are much less “RU always gets screwed” and much more “they are just bad”. Like Myles got completely bailed out once on what looked like a pretty stupid call to me too. Add in the no call in the first half on Myles’ layup, the phantom calls on the Garza layup and one of those fast breaks in the beginning of the second half.. it’s obvious these guys are not keeping up with the game and are guessing to fill in the blanks. Not competent reffing.

This game was called verrrry loosely, with a ton of contact being let go. Overall, that type of game is to our advantage - so singling out one or two bits of uncalled contact doesn't really resonate with me. I'd rather them call fewer fouls than more, generally.

On the Baker play, we didn't lose the ball, since Mathis came up with it, and we were able to get the ball into the post for a layup. If Johnson made it, we wouldn't be talking about the foul at all - it was only that this particular instance of uncalled contact didn't work out in our favor.

I'd want our next game to be called this way, too - and the next, and the next. We just need to make our FTs and chippies, and this would have been a 4-6 point win over a Top 10 team that is favored to win the conference.

I don't know why people even post such ridiculous stuff. I mean, if this is true all the refs in the country need to be fired at the very least.

I'm actually ok with judgement calls and a bit of contact being no calls on drives to the basket end of games. I blatant hack across the arm on a jumpshot like that isn't one of them. Its really inexcusable no call

....and yet we still could have won if Myles caught that pass from Mathis. So frustrating
