Too many on here have been ripping Geo since last year. He sprained both ankles last year and was never 100 %. This year he pulled a hamstring. He is a very good player and I just wish many would realize he is human like anyone else and when he is healthy he is very good.

First game I caught in a while. Didn’t realize we were playing until 2H but Geo looked very confident and played great. It appears he also handled the ball a lot more which I like.

Key thing I noticed after missing a few games is it looked like Paul’s on ball duty has been dramatically reduced. Bodes well for our half court offense.

Geo was awesome. As I sat there watching him dominate at the RAC tonight, I thought of the handful of Geo haters on this site who have no idea what they are talking about. It is not a coincidence that Geo was out for our 4 bad losses, including the 2nd half of the Lafayette game. Geo is the key to RU’s success.

One of his best games in Scarlet.

When healthy he’s much better than just average, despite what some posters will tell you.
He’s above average overall . Still not a first or second team all league guy. He’s streaky . When he’s on , he’s unstoppable.

I thought you liked when he didn’t handle the ball??? And when he doesn’t play…

This game showed once again the importance of Baker and Harper to score in high double figures.Scoring 47 points out of a team total of 75 points was the difference between winning and losing.Yes, when they score over 40 points Rutgers can defeat every Big Ten team. .What matters is consistency because the rest of the players simply don't score enough points for Rutgers to reach the 70 point plateau necessary for winning most league games especially on the road.Baker showed the quickness and variety of shots that made him the shot maker two years ago.Lets hope he and Harper stay healthy because the pressure will be on them to lead the team to wins. This was a great win finally defeating Michigan and their future NBA center.

One hell of a game by a great leader! It sure would be nice to see all of the people who bashed the hell out of this kid just six weeks ago, have the balls to come back and at least acknowledge his huge game! They sure are quick to come out and put him down when he doesn’t have a great game but disappear into thin air when he plays awesome!

Great game from Geo and kind of what I expected from him all season. We need him to play like this if we are to have a chance at getting back into NCAA’s. He’s a difference maker when he’s playing well.

He looks completely healthy now. His shot is on when he gets full elevation, which was in full display last night. Hope he can show consistency now.

Can never understand the amount of heat that Geo gets from posters (some certainly is political and him being a key voice in the NIL) and it is easy for them to use the narrative that if he has a bad game that he is just focused on getting money for his image. I know we have not had the best history as a basketball school, but when all is said & done Geo is going to be a Top 10 all time player in our history. Freshman Geo playing off the ball of Corey probably exceeded expectations and why people claim he didnt progress but that could not be farther from the truth. He has developed that step back which is you cannot defend and hits it a good clip. The other thing I have said about Geo is the reason his 3pt number has been low in previous years is the offense would always defer to him late and he would be forced to take 3s late in the clock that are high difficulty shots. If you notice this year more guys are comfortable late in the shot clock (besides RHJ) allowing Geo to not have to force shots and when he does take a 3, they are much more high percentage looks and its showing in his shooting numbers. Oh and BTW tonight his defense on ball looked strong, you can tell the pause helped with that hammy as he had lift in his legs and really active on the defensive side.

Wish we had Adidas Jerseys that had the 0 because I certainly would buy one and wear it proudly for years to come.

Fact is Geo is the only player on this team that can consistently get his own shot. Haroer shows flashes but it is nothing like Geo. He is really a weapon in close games that we missed dearly.

This board isn't real life. The trolls on here that gave geo flack probably tuned in to this team mid 2019. What Geo has done in his 5 years here for RU basketball reminds me of what Brian Leonard did for the football team.

We will look back on his career as the point it turned. To that we should be thankful while we still have him. This roster will crave his skillset next year.

I like when McConnell is playing to have a lot of the ball and when Paul is playing to not have a lot of the ball.

Geo is better on ball relative to off imo. I didn’t want him be dominating the time share though. Geo had a great game. But let’s not start counting on 27 against a short handed Michigan team every night that’s ok to understand.

Bingo. Everybody knows if you get THAT Geo Baker last night or THAT Ron Harper vs. Purdue we have a very fun and capable team. Who doesn't want that for the rest of the season?
The turn-around (so far) from play earlier by team and individuals is impressive. I would like nothing more than to raise my hand and admit I was wrong about some things.
We still have road game to play though too. And in the end your season is your season.
Yes! More of THAT please!

The play from him that really jumped out to me (many to choose from) was in the first half, beat his man off the dribble, jump stop along the baseline and elevated and hit a jumper right in Dickinson’s face. That’s athleticism we haven’t seen from him in a minute, thinking the time off might have been just what he needed to get healthy.

Shot I’m referring to is at 17 seconds in this video.

Ok I could be confusing that with someone else regarding the point or off the ball discussion.

Either way I have no idea how you can say you “like Geo handling the ball” in this thread and totally disregard all of your previous posts and threads about him. You have always been sooo down on Baker, and extremely vocal about him. I don’t stalk you but you’re so vocal I can’t forget some of the crazy takes you have…

With a quick search this is what I found lol

- Your thread after the UMASS game - “Third straight year no Geo no problem:

- Posting that we should reduce Geo’s minutes at both the 1 AND the 2:

- Posting that Richie’s update on Baker missing additional games (SHU and probably Purdue) was “positive”…aka we are a better team without him:

Still amazing to me that the guy that is the most responsible for leading this team out of the pit of despair gets so much flack from certain fans. I have to conclude it's mostly political axe grinding.

thats 100% what it is.

if just based on his play over the years no sane RU fan could have an issue with him

so it is political

I mean geo is entitled to do what he has done in terms of players rights, etc.

But in doing so he’s gonna rub some the wrong way

not saying I agree or disagree one way or the other.

just that - just as geo has the right to speak out, others have the right not to like it

I thought it was really ugly how far it went and how twisted people's thinking got. It got to the point where people were saying Young was the team leader and Baker is a bad attitude malingerer. Its the exact opposite.

Geo was awesome last night. No question. His bounce was back and he was engaged. Vintage Geo. I was also impressed with the ball movement and player movement. They've been putting work in over the impromptu break. I don't care if Michigan was short handed or not. That is their problem. When we play with that effort and make some shots, the are an NCAA tourney team.

I know it’s a bit of threading the needle but they’re all different conversations and some true elements remain in all of them. Circumstances can change too.

To think though that I don’t want Geo to be 40% 3 pt shooter averaging 20+ a game is also a stretch.

Lot of moving parts. I try to look at the big picture and bodies of work when I can and not rely on one performance to dominate discussion.

Not gonna get into a long back and forth with you but you’ve been one of Geo’s biggest and most vocal critics the past 2 years…

There’s really no “threading the needle” when you’re explicitly stating we’re a better team without him in multiple threads (that only took me a few minutes to find and was just from the past month :)).

He’s not perfect and can always improve but maybe, just maybe he’s a bit (or a lot) more valuable than you’ve given him credit for.

Just something to consider.

very nice wire-to-wire victory. but my concern is there's no offensive flow or cohesion. Geo is ball dominant. Yesterday his shots fell.

one play that stands out as an indictment of the offense, although not with Geo in particular, is when McConnell had the ball outside the arc in front of the RU bench with about 12 seconds on the shot clock and it was clear he was going to run out clock to get his try. Whether its him or whoever has the ball, ball movement stops once 15 seconds elapses.

Once the clock gets to 12-15, it's always iso time. Too early for that.

two plays I did like were the Reiber lob to RHJ in the low post (I think it was RHJ) and the Mulcahy dish to Cliff for the 2nd half dunk. Mulcahy's pass was with about 5 seconds left on the shot clock, maybe even less.

But, a win is a win. Appreciate the outcome and move on.
