Yesterday was likely his last chance, he will probably not see the field again this year barring a Fitzpatrick injury while they're still alive for the Wildcard. If their season continues to fall off the rails and they're out by week 11 or so the 6 weeks of garbage time will be a back and forth between Petty and Hackenberg.

I agree with above. However, I think Geno showed some things in his short time. Someone will give him a competitive chance at a starting QB spot that isn't buying what's coming out in the draft this year.

With Fitz opening up his big mouth and calling out the GM and coaching staff, he is just about done.

The only job more dangerous than QB for the Jets is being QB for the Browns. #6 went down in the last game. The Browns may have to go to Siberia to find a QB who can survive one game, let alone the season.
Poor Geno. He did good things for my alma mater, but the Jets is a sinkhole.

I can't think of one team that Geno would get a chance to be the starter. Maybe the Browns? Lol, they are worse off than the Jets.

Let's see...Bills, Dolphins, Texans and Bears would be very interested in a new starting QB. I'm also assuming Carson Palmer will come back next season....

Tyrod and Tannehill are 10x better than Geno, and both just signed big contracts.

The Bears and Texans need help, but G. Smith isn't better than Hoyer or Osweiler.

Geno has played less than a game and a half over the past 2 seasons. He looked good both times. Better than the 4 guys you just mentioned.

Is he Cam Newton? No. But seriously....Tannehill?

As I said earlier this morning in the post I created, Ryan Fitzpatrick will outlive the cockroaches. Guy has unlimited luck. Either sold his soul to the Devil or is a descendant of Jesus Christ's bloodline. No other possible explanation on how 1 guy can continue to get lucky time after time after time. Should been out of the league long time ago yet here he is, starting for a team. Lost his job for a game and this Geno injuries himself. Geno Smith now done for the year. Ryan Fitzpatrick back to being the starter for remainder of year.

It doesnt matter what Fitz did, Bowles does not like Geno, and giving Geno a stage to potentially showcase himself to another team does nothing to help the Jets. The coach doesnt like him, the fans certainly dont like him, the GM at this point probably doesnt like him. He was on the roster because contractually it made sense to keep him and in a year where that team expected playoffs, they needed a stable backup in the event they needed someone who could come in and fill in as a serviceable QB. They're just about out of reasons to keep him, my guess is once they're mathematically finished Geno will be cut.

As I type this its come out that that Geno likely tore his ACL, so the whole convo is moot.

Geno should start shopping for a new team next year. He can make a good career being a back up QB.

ACL. Get the surgery done. Rest.

Go the backup route and sign with the Steelers in 2017. Great offense. Great OLine (for once). Ben gets hurt EVERY season. Play a couple games and impress. 2018....starting QB gig.

That is probably his best route. He cant be worse than Landry Jones and the Steelers could get a backup with starting experience and upside for cheap. I dont think he should seek a starting gig because that will in all likelihood mean that he is going into a scenario like Cleveland, San Francisco, or Chicago to "compete" against a top rated QB prospect, or another journeyman where the "winner" is put up like a sacrificial lamb to get the crap beat out of them every week.

Not only that, but his surgery will be 9 months before camp opens for the NFL. He will barely be ready before preseason. He could sit and wait for a phone to ring mid-season, but that's a hard gig to pull off.

His skill set matches Todd Haley's system very well.
