I think classes began last week. Either that or my intern was lying to me.He should have waited another couple more days instead of announcing the day before classes began.
Yep, started on 20 Aug.

Let's say I have you and another guy up for a job promotion. And I tell you that once I make my decision I will call you personally to let you know. But then I decide instead I will have somebody else call you to let you know, without telling you about it. Then that person I elected to tell you instead, tells you right before the other guy's hiring is announced, but I want you to help that other guy settle into his knew job as your boss. How would you feel about that?
Someone floated Wazzu in another thread, that would be fun to see. Some schools operate on a quarter system that don't start until later and would probably be a place he could still get into. Also, even though classes started last week, students have until the 31st to enroll in classes at UNL, so I assume there are schools that are similar. I am not sure what kind of schedule they go by, but it wouldn't be surprised to see him and up at a place like UCLA.
Was Gebbia informed by MV or TW? I saw a story where AM was informed by MV he was starting. I'm curious to what the expectations were and what is customary in this type of decision.I have been asked for my sources. I will not comply but will say I stand my my statement and my history of info on this board! Will leave it at that!
I think if he spends a full "academic year" at a different school, he'd be eligible next fall. That's what Richie Incognito was attempting to do when he transferred to Oregon. A lot of west coast universities don't start until mid-September.To me, I figured after a certain point, the season has started and your eligibility for that season begins. Maybe that hasn't happened yet as you say. If that is the case, then my argument that he was holding out the qb decision until they got past that date doesn't hold any water.
If however, he transfers after that point, it would be the same as transferring next spring. He would have used his eligibility this year and would have to sit out next year too. That's why this timing window seems awkward.
I'm no expert on the rule or what the exact date is though.
Any chance they talk him into coming back. Obviously he was bad and upset. More often than not we make quick/bad decisions when we are upset. Give him time to cool down, and hope he thinks things through.Verduzco. Which is fine, if you tell the kid that is what will happen.
SIAP
Coach Frost said 2AM was a unanimous choice by the coaching staff. Competition apparently wasn't THAT close.
If you're not with us, you're against us. See ya olive oil.

Honestly, in the real world, I would call this standard.
That made me laugh harder than it should have.If Kid is right, then I hope it is the WR. Because no real team actually cares what those candy-@sses think.
Thanks Brutus.Frost said it was a consensus not unanimous.
A consensus is a judgment arrived at by most of those concerned.

Wasn't even close.Well. If 3 out 5 said Martinez then your theory that is wasn’t even close would be silly.
According to Frost he knew AM was the guy a week ago, but has been lying his *** off this past week saying it's too close to call.. He's definitely a punk just like when he transferred in college. What say you?
Wasn't even close.
If not close then why are there other offensive starters that do not like this decision?
Just my opinion, but I like the fact that the staff was upfront and honest before the season started. This gives Gebbia the chance to do what’s best for him.I wonder if frost could have kept em both around by not picking a started and just saying the best that preforms on game day will be in the game?

What say me? From what you are saying you are taking this personally. I don't get it. I read Frost thought who the starter would be at midweek. It sounds like you have resentment for Frost before this ever happened and you could easily find a different coach to root for.
For a lot of other people on here, why are you taking it so personally? NU doesn't owe TG a starting role, and TG doesn't owe NU anything, else, other than what he has given them. He was recruited by another coach with a different system. He has to go to where he thinks he can play and he can't wait to do it or he will lose another 1/4th of his eligibility. What's the gripe. He's done. He doesn't owe anything to one fan on here. He has to do what he has to do. Get realistic. And SF had an inclination as to the starter the middle of last week, verified it Friday and Saturday with the coaches, and TG was told on Saturday. No one on here is the head coach. SF is, and it's his future that is on the line. No one else on here has their future depending on this decision. It's all SF's and TG's decision (and their future) so let them make it.
Everyone here needs to get a grasp. It's a game played by kids, for goodness sake. Let them liver their own lives and if someone doesn't like it, find something else or a different team/coach to follow. You might have a happier life.
true, but it would of been nice to see them both in real game situations, then make the call.Just my opinion, but I like the fact that the staff was upfront and honest before the season started. This gives Gebbia the chance to do what’s best for him.
I'm not sure Tommie is a good example here. There were rumblings that he was threatening to bail unless the coaches played/started him. What happened to the days of a willing b/up qb? I'm thinking Jerry Tagee, Van Brownson.
Tommie Frazier, Brook Berringer. We couldn't have won without guys that didn't need to be in the spotlight.
Who cares? Honestly... who cares if a handful of people offense or defense think Gebbia who has been on the team longer and probably has more friends than AM should have won.. this isnt a popularity contest..anyone who is a leader on this team should tell these guys to shut up and buy in for the team.. or GTFO... with him.. my .02..anything else condones division and has no place on this team

Yep, not a good way to unify the team that is for sureThe best thing about the timing of this is that we have a game this weekend. If AM goes out and plays well, I am sure many of those players not on board will get on board quickly. If AM struggles, maybe that is not the case. Let's hope AM has a freaking huge day and puts all of this to bed. I certainly do not want any remaining players to second guess SF or the rest of the coaching staff.
THIS!
Pisses me off that some of our "fans" are saying such utter crap about him. He's a kid and he has an D1 athlete's ego. Nothing new to see here. Like dingle said, this is the first time in a while that the bandaids are being ripped off. I know TG loves Lincoln, but he's doing what's best for him and Frost is doing what he thinks is best for his football program.
Do you blame Kyler Murray for transferring to OU from aTm? Now he's the starter for OU.
Shea Patterson for leaving Ole Miss for UM? Starter.
Joe Burrows for leaving OSU for LSU? Starter.
Obviously we can have our own opinions, but to the posters who are posting that complete garbage about someone who is probably half your age and don't even know how hard he worked to be the starter, I'll be expecting you when our offense or defense struggles, or anything else you feel obligated to whine about.
He is choosing to leave. He wants out. If he didn't want to leave, he wouldn't leave. He didn't want to leave, that's why he is leaving now, because he knows that he won't sniff the field short of an injury. He wanted to be here, that should be obvious to everyone.
I played college football. If my teammate left after fall camp began, let alone during game week, because he found out he was #2 instead of #1, I wouldn't be rooting him on. I'd be pissed. Whether you think it's right or wrong, this would have been unacceptable to me as a player, and that's the perspective I'm approaching it from, not as a "jilted fan".That doesn't make any sense if you think you might win the job, which he clearly did think, and moreover nearly accomplished.
I am noting a trend with anyone who thinks Gebbia's decision to transfer now doesn't make any sense--they're apparently incapable of looking at the issue from any perspective other than the jilted fan whose team just lost a significant player, if not based on his talent alone then in terms of the teams' depth at his position.
It does not look to me like "he is only concerned with himself." It looks to me like he is more concerned about his future than the future of our team, which does not imply (a) that he cares not at all about the team nor (b) had the competition turned out differently he would not be a great teammate and leader, which he had been by all accounts up to this point.
well solich had to go talk sense into crouch at millard north, maybe the same could be done? This transfer isn't a smart decision. He isn't going to play this year no matter where he goes. The guy in front of him hasn't played in a game since his junior year in HS...is Tristan going to run back real fast if Amart throws 4 Ints and melts down? His qb coaches at NU are the best in the country...and he has one of the best physical development coaches in Zac Duvall. It does hurt NU but I am more perplexed by his rash decision...I would have no qualms if he waited four months and transferred in december. And he may be the starter by then. It is a thoughtless decision...hopefully somebody reminds of it.
