I don't worry about the schedule like some fans spend way too much time on, but RU will play another quality, full schedule this coming season.
The committee literally uses non conference strength of schedule as a metric to judge teams. See Wake Forest. Just because it hasn't burned us yet doesn't mean it won't.

Again I'm not asking for a gauntlet. Just play the #250 schedule instead of the #320.

I’d love to play a team like Monmouth over a team like Bucknell. Still a team we should beat, but significantly better. Obviously playing even teams like South Carolina or Boston College would be better too

To really compare, what is our non conference SOS for just big ten teams? P5 teams?

We were 354/358 this past season per KenPom (NET would be slightly different but close enough). Northwestern was 356th, the only P5 worse. Wake Forest was 350th.

Ultimately it can be overcome. Texas Tech was 347th. But if you can make it a non factor you should.

There is no such thing isolated item on OOC vs overall schedule. Wake Forest didn't get in because they lacked quality wins, not their OOC schedule.

Looking back on how the ACC fared with UNC, Duke and ND, they probably should have gotten a better look than some of the Mountain West or WCC teams.

The schedule is not an issue. The issue was not blowing out the teams on the schedule in OOC that we should have....that probably cost RU at least 3 spots....(likelihood a 7 to 9 seed with the standard 20 point wins instead.

Incorrect. Non conference strength of schedule appears on the team sheets.

non confererence sos is a criteria, I dont know why Hawk wants to keep downplaying it, it can be overcome but most schools above 300 will struggle.

Notre Dame was thin on Q1 and 2 wins but its sos was something that ultimately helped them if you compare them to Texas A&M

North Carolina and Notre Dame had very few quality wins on their resume. There is almost no case to be made that UNC could have been higher than a 8 seed based on that resume. For Notre Dame that kind of resume has first 4 written all over it, they had 2 Q1 wins and lost to Texas A&M who had better wins. Why did they get in...well sos played a role

Wow, how can we not be in this tournament?? Total farce. But you know what, if it keeps us off of FS1 aka the Big East Network on the road at Marquette, all the better

No Gavitt game likely the only reason MSG USC was even considered. At max Pike wants 3 Power 6 opponents in non conference…. this year it’ll be SHU, ACC game…and….Mohegan sun neutral site game? Have to hope the 7 other rac games are not all NEC MEAC and Patriot low level

There aren't enough Big East teams compared to B1G teams (11 vs. 14), so three B1G teams get left out of the Gavitt rotation each year. This year is our year to get left out. Not a big deal.

Not talking smack but RU does play the most boring non-conference schedule of all the top 6 basketball conferences. Heck if RU wasn't forced to play Seton Hall, Gavitt and the ACC challenge games he'd be happy to play 11 sisters of the poor.
