Well, since literally everything else is easily duplicated, it’s pretty unique.

There are lots of studies theorizing why, though no one single agreed upon thesis. Most point to our culture, poisonous as it may be.

Perhaps the next rabbit hole you wander down?
yet our social systems are garbage. Why can't we duplicate that? **** the humans, am I right?

Lots to do, lots we’ve done. I agree those who govern care not for their constituents the day after elected. And I agree there’s plenty of folks who stand to lose tons when change occurs who’ll get in their pockets and in our way.

I’d also say, despite the fact our schools are unusable, healthcare bankrupts us and everything touched by our govt turns immediately against the people, creativity continues to thrive here, generation after generation.

Perhaps the strife is somehow good, if not for each individual, for the collective? Astronauts lose bone mass without a certain amount of gravity, after all.

I see a more authoritarian system as time goes on. American life stifles creativity for so many people. They hardly have enough time to work to survive, let alone have hobbies. Is never ending work for lower wages, being governed by an oligarchy, while being deprived basic human rights, what life is really about? If other countries can do better, we should be able to as well.

I get it. The hamster wheel is no fun. Injustices abound. Everybody’s culpable.

Existential crises are an entitlement of the privileged. Good to see you’re putting yours to use!

I'm choosing not to participate in this corrupt way of life. Sorry, not a fan of slavery.
Why should ones slave away when they aren't offered the basic necessities of life? It causes complacency.

the closer a nation finds itself to the equator, the less everything the world can expect.

the one thing sure to breed complacency is year-round warm weather.

leading the world in innovation is a funny way for complacency to rear its ugly head, if you ask me.

it's awesome the US has given you the ability to even dream of 'choosing not to participate' in its corruptness. what a privilege!

That's how they want you to believe. Squabble amongst the working classes about who is the best slave. The irony is palpable.

no, just the simple fact that billions of humans do not have the option of even considering for one second what you've spent countless hours pondering and pontificating about.

you're very lucky! take advantage of your lot in life. a slave who's rid himself of his chains only for the master not to take any notice.

And yet here you are complaining/concerned about an amateur college sports team on a daily basis. Such privilege.
Yeah, me wanting better living and working conditions is so bad. 🥴

In a way it's a glorious thing that you started this thread. Too many have been disengaged from the Bernie Bros and other advocates of Socialism. With your every post you drag the cancer of Socialism and self-entitlement into the light, and that's the one magnificent result of what you have been saying.

I'll be the last one to tell you to stifle yourself. You're carrying my water for me and for that I am grateful to you.

it's not bad. it's the opposite. we could use more like you in the master's quarters!

but, alas.. you're doing the unselfish thing by quitting, choosing not to participate, and fleeing for greener pastures with your family.

an applause break is in order

this thread is just like the plot of Terminator, except when SkyNet takes over, Sarah Connor takes John to New Zealand while telling everyone she leaves behind how badly they're doomed, and everything they've done in life has contributed to their undoing.

Where John begins to complain about having to roll his own doobies.
