For the most part, mankind progresses throughout history. We usually get smarter and more advanced..

Then there are times when idi0ts are in charge and we go backwards. Who made the "new" gas cans and nozzles starting about 15 years ago? Top 5 worst home inventions in my lifetime. Has to be the green beans who think they're saving the planet by saving a drop of gas on the ground. It's like the paper towel dispensers who give you about 4 inches each time - little do they realize people do it 5 times and they end up using more paper towels. These nozzles cause more spillage than I ever saw with the old school cans.

Give me an old-fashioned gas can and nozzle all day long. (Yeah, I now buy the can - then pay separately to get an old school nozzle, and punch a hole in the back). Some of these dumb cans won't even work pouring into a car without a funnel. I imagine the 19 year old who created this and still pats himself on the back.

Sincerely,

Grouchy old guy on gas cans.

Gas can design has been broken for 20 years. You’re just now noticing?

This is so true, the gas can pouring SUCKS.

Also, there will be a post, probably from numbers, about how "if you pour your own gas into your own lawn equipment, you are poor"

I found flexible replacement nozzles without the crap on them at Bomgaars. They came with an assortment of sizes of attachment rings. The “safety” nozzles had caused me to spill as much gas as I got in the equipment. They’re clearly designed by an engineer who has never used a piece of equipment.

It was actually done to keep children out of the can. That's all. Just like pill bottles. Stupid if you ask me. Just cut the safety nozzle off. That's what I've always done. Although, I haven't bought a gas can in while. It was back when they had the push in nozzle.

I can't decide which I hate more, these new cans or the car feature that shuts it off at every stop. Going to shake my fist at the sky right now!
Yep.

I have one of these on my F150. Works great.

I installed an auto stop eliminator in a 2026 Pacifica and it works great. However, the installation was not what I would call easy. I needed to use forceps to put connectors back on and a certain hook from my pick and hook tool set to get something else out. The module I had to plug into would have been fairly easy to get to, but since the vehicle has those TV screens in the backs of the front seats I had to remove four tiny coax connections off a video mixer of some sort and pull that out. If a person isn't like a "6" on the 1-10 handyman scale I would hire someone to put the unit in.

The wife needs a 115V outlet for her business. Unfortunately, it isn't like the old days when you could order a car and check the "115 V" box. The only way to get the power plug was getting the expensive package with video screens in the seat backs, a Blu Ray player, a 760W amp with a zillion speakers, hands free sliding doors, and a bunch of other crap we don't need. What we do need is a spare tire, which the van doesn't come with. Maybe I could get a pink-fur continental kit to put on the tailgate.

You also need a fish tank in the car!

I drive an Expedition but nearly bought a Pacifica for my wife and myself years ago. They stole technology from Daimler Benz and put it in those things. Loved the test drive.
You were going to buy matching cars for you and your best friend?

My god. My head is going to explode.

Same color?

No. One Pacifica for our personal vehicle which she would have mostly driven. I have 2 trucks and the Expedition for business that are my daily drivers.

My guess is that you’ve never driven a Pacifica or a Mercedes sport sedan. I test drove both when we were looking at the Pacifica. I couldn’t tell the difference in handling, ride or cab sound levels. Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it. 😉

I have never been in a Pacifica...my brother in law only drives Mercedes and the ride is so smooth and it is super quiet.

those used to be super nice and handy with the stow and go seating, basically turning it into a cargo van.. Town & Country I believe, then they borrowed the Pacifica name from a defunct suv and slapped it on there, and then made a cheap version with poor options and called it the voyager.. came out with a hybrid, that is supposedly a nightmare to keep running. too bad.. was a good thing back in the day.

I use a round metal one with the pull handle. Love it. Other thing I do when I use multiple gas cans for camping and fishing is a battery powered pump from harbor freight. Makes it so much easier. I think the pump was $20.
