He is also a true freshman, but I guess he will never grow more than what he is now, huh?

If he added 30 lbs of muscle with more strength without losing much speed, he'd be very exciting to see at DE.

The true freshman I thought has serious potential to be dominant on D is Ty Robinson.

The Wisconsin OL was tripped by his own man, Nelson didn't do anything but get lucky. He's too slow to play OLB and too small to play DE.

It's statements like this that make me wonder if some people here actually know what they're talking about. Sad that someone isn't grateful to have such a fine dude on our team as Nelson.

He's plenty fast, strong as an ox considering he's a true frosh, and plays with a mean streak.

All these lamos saying oh, but the tackle got stepped on, or oh, he tripped. Lmao get out of here. As someone who's played dline, most of the time when a defender is doing well against an o lineman it's taking advantage of an overall context of a situation. It all starts with physicality and drive, which without either of those, that tackle isn't tripping and it might as well be Mike Riley out there playing defense.

So kudos to Nelson! Count me as a fan who appreciates this kind of thread centered around him. Haters can go hate elsewhere or talk to a wall. It might listen and care more.

Are we sure this tweet wasn't sarcasm? Pretty routine stuff. The tackle needs Life Alert, "Help! I've fallen and I can't get up!" "What happened Sir?" "Uh, I tripped?"

Just because someone has a Blackshirt doesn't mean he's a good defender. Not directing this towards Nelson but we've had over 60 Blackshirts over the past 6 years. How many of these guys could you say are really good at football? Maybe 10?

During there time at NU or when they move on? Lol.

I can't believe how good Will Compton and Nate Gerry have been. Two guys that we ok at NU, but really struggled at times, but now are really good pros.

Lol after they've moved on.. I'm feeling generous so let's say during their time at NU. You can add Collins and Valentine to that list that played like a Blackshirt after they left our program.

I'm pretty excited about Robinson as well, but I hope he ends up at DE and not NG.

Compton is still a liability in pass coverage for his team but he's pretty good against the run. I've normally seen him get pulled 2nd or 3rd and long. He's a very smart player who's a team guy. Nothing flashy just solid really like he was at NU. I'm really surprised he's stuck as long as he has. Gerry plays because they're really short on backers and have had some injuries.

You can nitpick them, but Gerry has done pretty well and so has Compton, and starting in the NFL is a big deal. Both were pretty ho-hum at NU. We've had a lot of those players.
