Really sucks. Just found out coaches have been negatively recruiting about this too which also sucks. Not having a decent local fan base is too often overlooked when it comes to recruiting against teams in our region and conference.

Will be even better success story when Pikiell succeeds.

Win and/or schedule better opponents and we'll be on TV.

None of the B1G games OOC have all theirs on TV either. But as far as recruiting against SHU, St John’s, etc, would be nice to have OOC games picked up by MSG and YES etc

Most games are on TV
I’m sure every conference game is, and maybe half of OOC?

It’s just the crap team games
I’d imagine most schools face the same thing, no?

All of our conference games are televised on BIG network and plenty of our OOC games are televised as well.

Don’t see how negative recruting would have any impact.

The issue is not the folks here ante-ing up, it is the games being seen by a much wider audience and, perhaps, athletes and their families and hanger-ons.

Just like politicians, opposing recruiters will lie through their teeth to get you to come to their school. This is nothing new.

Is this a joke? If having three November games not on a national channel live with the reach of BTN is what coaches are using to recruit against RU, we're in darn good shape. And one of the BTN Plus games was aired a couple days later on tape delay on BTN nationally anyway. I bet teams relying on the PAC 12, ACC, and Longhorn Networks would love to have our TV coverage. Or leagues that have to figure out what channel is covering their next game, FS2, MSG+, Empire Sports Network, and all that other nonsense. TV coverage is most definitely not a problem.

Well, no. It has 100% something to do with recruiting see as it’s been said. You’re something else man lol

Do you realize how many schools don’t have all of their OOC games televised right now?

Unless you’re North Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Nova etc. you’re not getting anywhere close to every OOC game on national TV.

If coaches are actually using this as negative recruting it makes me feel really good about the state and direction of our program under Pikiell.

Love the negativity. I was feeling too relieved walking out of the RAC with a win.
I was two miles away watching our women's volleyball team playing Wisconsin at the same time (of course). There was a good turnout of Wisconsin fans. The couple sitting next to me drove all the way from Long Island just to see their Badgers in person. After the match one of their players climbed into the stands to thank their fans for coming. The team stayed around to take pictures with their fans. I got a good look at B1G athletics today. $$$$

What negativity. My post was quite positive lol just pointing out something I’ve heard.
Let other recruiters/coaches say what they want!

In today’s social media crazed society I doubt it has as much impact as it used to... but someone like Russ Wood would know better than I. It would seem to me that kids today are a less gullible to taking someone’s simple word for it.

Yup ... I heard the same thing about recruiting.

Mike Krzyzewski convinced Zion Williamson to come to Duke instead of Rutgers because Duke has 23 games on T.V. compared to 22 for Rutgers.

And don't even get me started on some of the things John Calipari has said to recruits about Rutgers.

Hell....my wife pays $100+ for me a year to watch my daughter's all star cheer team compete nationally while she flies around the country. I went to buy BTN Plus for the month to watch the game, and I found out that the Flosports site has rights to show the BTN Plus games! So I saved $10, or lost $90 depending on how you do your math!.

Pointing out something obvious or that is an every day occurrence with every single program around the country (negative recruiting) isn't relevant IMO.

What program doesn't have other programs recruiting and has complimentary things to say about an opponent?? This is a brand new roster with lots of freshmen and underclassmen playing their first consistent basketball games against high level competition. 80% of the schedule is against a Power 5 or solid program like Seton Hall or St Johns.

Call me skeptical about the comment on TV, there's enough fan interest and recruiting interest already in place while Pike and the staff continue the rebuild. My guess would be we will see many more posts during the season full of doubts about things improving.

I think there's a stat about the total minutes played by an existing roster and RU was around 317th out of about 344 D1 programs in players minutes played. That's something to consider for all fans that are excited about how the talent looks early, but also keeping in mind how drastically different this roster and team will likely look in 2019-2020.

$10 a month to watch us play some terrible teams is well worth it to me. Not sure how another program can negatively recruit our game against Boston U not being on tv. All the kids stream everything nowadays.

All those program facts are well and good but have nothing to do with the OP. Just passing it along. I’m sure fans are also a little upset. Many of my college friends have been asking if we’re any good because they see the record and done positive things written but have only seen St. John’s. There’s a difference from being in a conference network/live stream and a internet only subscription service. That said idk what ACC or big east schools similar offerings are but judging but what I’ve heard is discussed in recruiting some have better scheduling (thinking invitational tournament etc). Not a huge deal just an annoying reality.

Why didn't they watch the Eastern Michigan game? This is no different than any other year. In fact, I believe more of our games are viewable on tv than other and all of them are viewable by streaming. Wasn't like this that many years ago.

Except, games never on TV, is not reality.

Games barely on TV? We have at least 31 games this year, and all but 5 of them are televised (with the others available with a $10 package). Compare that to the Big East days, when we'd have 6-8 games each year that were only available by radio.

In some ways, I miss having to listen to games on the radio. We used to light a fire, make a tray of snacking food, pour a couple of beers, and settle down to listen to the dulcet tones of Bruce Johnson.

we are in the Big 10 not Atlantic 10...please retire the thoughts that a game or two not being televised matters, its utter nonsense

Bac-

I don't know what you're talking about. We are definitely losing recruits to UConn because of their regional TV coverage on the YES Network. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
