Basketball GAMEDAY THREAD -- Rutgers versus Princeton

[Rokodesh]

Our starters played like ***

Whole team played like ***

[brookdale-soda]

too many guys too eager to shoot, especially when they don't have a shot. Hopefully they get more selective going fwd

[RUIvyKnight20]

idk how Gavin is not playing, I would be transferring if I was him and he would be too if he was older and realized what’s happening

Thats why

[Captain Hogleg]

This will be a good loss in the long run. Pike can teach these guys a lot from this mess.

[willisneverrana43]

Agreed. I feel like you learn a lot by playing good competition and a team that doesn’t beat itself. We need to clean up sloppy play or you pay the price.

I think we just need shooters.

[JudgeSmails56]

Just awful.. Richard is probably jerking it to an Ivy League win.

[BillyC80]

Game over. Back to the drawing board.

[mikeylew1992]

If you’re going to lose this miserably at least you could play your freshman 5 star a bit.

Doesn’t look good that a 5 star can’t step on the court. He should be playing if we are going to play like garbage anyway. Just shows why come here and not play

[Mr. Magoo1]

Hes been the best guard tonight

He can’t shoot…and we need points

[JudgeSmails56]

I think we just need shooters.

Nothing new.. we’ve needed shooters for years.

[willisneverrana43]

Team has some fundamental issues. Don’t box out, not very good passers and can’t hit a layup.

More athletic. Went from slow and plodding to fast and trigger happy.

We will be fine but they need work.

Problem is shooting.

[jkernpop]

1 game in and we have a bad loss in the eyes of the committee per quad matchup. Frustrating as hell but “lots of season left”. Ugh!

[Rokodesh]

0-2 on peacock. **** this network

[runner1954]

How the **** is gavin not playing this entire freakin game.

He’s looks lost out there on defense snd offense.

[PSAL_Hoops]

? Cliff has 12/8/4(blocks)/1 stl on 50% shooting.

It’s Princeton. He should pick up big numbers and with all the missed shots he should have more rebounds. He wasn’t dominant against Princeton’s bigs at all.

[Mikemarc]

Embarrassing

This isn’t embarrassing. Very entertaining game against a very good opponent. Not surprising out come at all.

[RUfromNJ]

At least we ran the clock out

[RU to the Core]

Whoa. I’m shocked. Hopefully Princeton is some top 20 team bc we look horrible.

[Mr. Magoo1]

Doesn’t look good that a 5 star can’t step on the court. He should be playing if we are going to play like garbage anyway. Just shows why come here and not play

It’s one game but he certainly doesn’t look like a 5 star. However, every starter played like garbage

[RUsojo]

Thats why

40secs left in game scramble mode game over, relax. Was 2 of 4 in 1H and essentially DNP 2H less than 2 mins.

[RU MAN]

Worst 1st game in years. If Gavin ends up a project this is going to be a brutal year

Gavin will be fine. He’s NOT a project. Sorry but you don’t know what you’re talking about.

[koleszar]

Hey Simpson finally showed up.

[Mr_Sinister]

Humbling to say the least.
At least it's not Umass...

[rutger80]

Lot of work to do. Poor shooting and rebounding

[RW90]

I think we just need shooters.

Nah,scoring is overrated.

[biazza38]

Remind me again why we played this game

[ScottRU93]

Rutgers - where you come to learn how to not shoot. Anywhere else people shoot lights out but not here.

[KK1827]

That wasnt a lucky win or anything. Princeton was flat out just better in all facets. Hats off to them.

His is a rebuild year, this year is all about prepping the guys for their roles next year

[RUChoppin]

Hopefully we don't see them again until 2035 or so.

[RUIvyKnight20]

He can’t shoot…and we need points

Don't disagree with that, but you don't take out the only guard who's not afraid to push the tempo and find the open man

[Mr_Sinister]

Gavin will be fine. He’s NOT a project. Sorry but you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Kid needs to hit the weight room hard.
Gonna have a touch time defending with those legs

[RutHut_rivals]

Missing Mag. Maybe the numerous posts that GG is a one and done can stop.

[Rufaninga]

61 - was this the new look high scoring offense we heard about?
Rough start, glad it's a long season to work these issues out.

Rdy for Mag to be healthy

[RUBlackout7]

Welp, looks like we’re a football school again

[Captain Hogleg]

Guys like Hyatt and Cliff and Simpson will learn how valuable each missed layup is. Cliff will learn you have to work harder for rebounds. this game will pay off. Davis will learn that gus at this level will make you eat the ball of you aren't in good position to attack the rim.

[gigantor1024]

0-2 on peacock. **** this network

It’s an app not a network

[bethlehemfan]

idk how Gavin is not playing, I would be transferring if I was him and he would be too if he was older and realized what’s happening

Gavin is so far from ready it’s not funny.

[Joey Bags]

Gavin will be fine. He’s NOT a project. Sorry but you don’t know what you’re talking about.

Played like one. I do worry Pike’s extreme emphasis on defense will neuter the offensive ability of guys like Gavin and Ace. You gotta let those guys ball, they will get it in the hoops even if the D isn’t always there

[PatrickRU92]

ABysmal defense. They did whatever they wanted.

[Mr. Magoo1]

I’m not surprised that we lost but I’m amazed at how bad we looked..no starters played well.
