Basketball GAMEDAY THREAD -- Rutgers versus Princeton

[Rutgers20]

This is a team that will hit its peak in February. The key is whether they can win enough games in December and January to be in contention for ncaa tournament

[IL Lusciato]

Well, that was unimpressive.

[Rokodesh]

Team is very athletic but they would lose to a 5th grade girls team in a layup contest

[knightfan7]

Need a missed layup tracker

So many I thought I was watching a game from last season.

[Salvi's Headband]

Pathetic end of the half.

[tfio]

Well that first half followed the same exact script as every single game for the past 5 years now. Slow start, climb back into it, get a small lead, miss about 10 layups that will extend the lead, and then give the lead away as the half expires.

[mikeylew1992]

Uninspiring basketball. 2nd unit brought the energy. I think we need to play David over Simpson right now, he seems just better this game. Oskar also has it > Hyatt

[RUsojo]

Gonna take a while for Pike to figure out how a team like this works offensively.

[RutgersClassof2004]

Palmquist may be our most improved! Played solid with bigtime minutes

[RobotHunter]

Never seen a team miss so many shots or layups right at the basket.

[njrexguy]

Flat

[koleszar]

Well let's hope we're a second half squad. Because that first half is going to lose a boatload of games.

[RutgersClassof2004]

Way too many bunnies missed

[bac2therac]

Score please?

32-28 pu half

Simpson has lots of friends in the house and is playing tight. Shooting like Jalen Miller.

[tico brown]

Is that the Knicks PA guy with his THREEEEEE POINT GOAL… crap in Trenton?

[Mr. Magoo1]

Starting guards 1 for 8, 3 points and gave up a ton of 3s and a few post ups

[RUsojo]

Way too few 3s in the first half. Won’t win playing fast and not taking more 3s.

Rutgers is dominating shot quality. Unlucky not to be up 10.

[KevH]

Did you just wake up from a 15 month slumber bro? I don't love it either but we've known Peacock was going to be showing Big Ten hoops this season since August of 2022..

There's I think 10 Big Ten teams playing tonight. They can't all be on regular BTN. Most teams are on BTN+ tonight which you'd also have to pay extra for.

And BTN+ sucks by comparison.

[Rufaninga]

Need a missed layup tracker

Found it

[Greene Rice FIG]

Game 1 Pike will find the best defensive 5 and grind out a victory. Here it comes

[njrexguy]

Hard to watch these guys. Like they never played together before.
No rhythm.
No chemistry.
No spark.

[shields]

Down 2 points not 10.

[tm_nj]

This is definitely a disappointing start

[RUScrew85]

Score please?

P 32-28 at the half

[Greene Rice FIG]

Simpson has lots of friends in the house and is playing tight. Shooting like Jalen Miller.

Jalen Miller actually missed so far

[RutgersChow]

JD is a better all around player than Noah and the kid from Hartford, and the best defensive guard we have out there - not close.

[Rokodesh]

Down 2 points not 10.

Down 4

I disagree.

[ClassOf02v.2]

Ohio State down by 1 at the half against Oakland.

[njxchange]

So far, I like Fernandez and Davis in the back court.

my best 5 right now.

Fernandez
Davis
Oskar
Wolf
Cliff

Simpson - if he can actually finish at the rim - he will be at another level. as of now he is avg/below avg at best
Gavin - still long ways to go... but im sure he will get there with some playing time
Williams/Hyatt = i rate them same... yucky

[Salvi's Headband]

5 of 13 on layups. Yeesh

[Mikemarc]

We’re down by 4 to a sweet 16 team last year, we’re ok

[RUsojo]

This is definitely a disappointing start

I was actually thinking it’s been a very encouraging start. Playing a ton of young guys and getting great looks. Unlucky not to be up double digits. Wouldn’t change a thing and think Rutgers rolls the rest of the way.

[RUtrumpet92_rivals498139]

First half combine shooting for Davis, Simpson, Hyatt, Fernandes, and Williams: 2 for 20. That must improve or we are going down.

[dark_check]

We’re down by 4 to a sweet 16 team last year, we’re ok

They were a 15 seed who got hot

[bac2therac]

Starting guards 1 for 8, 3 points and gave up a ton of 3s and a few post ups

Unacceptable given hype we heard

[PSAL_Hoops]

The best player on that team graduated.

[dark_check]

Quad 3 game

[shields]

Sorry 4, internet had it by 2.
