Good resume builder. A 20 point win vs this team would be a great sign. I'll take a win by 3 though.

If we are for real, we win.
If we cant beat this team then pack it in...we'll be fine. Not worried. They'll probably hit everything they throw up the first 10 minutes like any other team but after that we'll get after it.

I obviously think we win, just worried about a letdown performance where we struggle more than we should.

If we were going to have that, I would have expected it against Stonhill coming off the Kansas game, but that game was a good little buffer between Kansas and tonight so I think we'll be OK. St. joes will find a way to give us fits in the first half like a lot of teams. they'll shoot 20% better from three than they typically do just because. but we will get our act together in the second half and win by double digits.

After such a good shooting performance in the last game I am a little concerned they will come out very cold tonight. This is what we usually see with Cal's teams. And too, that is typical with freshmen heavy teams, as Cal often has. In the end though I believe they will prevail. If the shooting carries over from last game , I think it tells us a lot about this team.

Probably still going to see a few chunks of the game where we look flat. I would imagine DJ or Edwards has a bit of a bounce back game. And yes, I think Cal might try and force that.. but it's needed. We may not NEED DJ to ever come into his own, but we really could use a pure SF in Edwards.

Im one of those that wishes we’d cut the D1 teams by half, make the tournament 32 teams again, only play teams that have no one named Chad sort of deal……

Imagine what that would be like.

Indiana
North Carolina
Western
Kansas
Purdue
Notre dame
UCLA
Cincinnati
West Virginia

And a mid major cupcake of Gonzaga before SEC play.

There isn’t a diaper deep enough to hold Calipari if he saw a schedule like that.

Expecting a win and strong performance. However, another slow start should demand a change in the starting lineup. Our esteemed coach just can't continue to enable the status quo and expect to win all the games this talented roster deserves. As he has voiced, "the bench is a great motivator", applies to all and not just the pre-chosen ones.

St. Joe's has really good guards. They also have two 7 footers. So, if they choose to go size, play them like we did KU. What's going to be challenging is containing their guards.

We should have no problems beating this team. We have too many horses, it shouldn’t even be a game.

Does anybody remember back around 2008, St. Joe’s had a damn good 3 point shooter. I used to play with him all the time in 2K PlayStation tournaments on my undergrad campus. People would bet me based on the name, think I was nuts, and I’d go the F off with this kid.

I"m not worried about losing, but this could be a close game for a bit. We should be in control though.

How are we feeling?

I'm a bit worried this is setup for a letdown game- young team, and St. Joes is a super capable team, despite the uncharacteristic loss to TAMUC.

They are more than capable of beating good teams on any given night.
St Joe had a larger margin of victory over stonehill than we did...I'm definitely not overlooking them; don't imagine our cats will either

*edit* After reading the rest of the thread, it seems like I'm one of the few that are concerned @ tonight.

I’m curious what changes you would make in regards to who is getting minutes and who isn’t.

I miss the days when we didn’t have to worry about losing to a team that just lost to Texas A&M Commerce.

That loss was the biggest surprise of the weekend outside of FAU. So, we will see. St. Joe's guard are really solid.

So you quoted what I wrote, which is below:

"Expecting a win and strong performance. However, another slow start should demand a change in the starting lineup. So where was the term "minutes" mentioned by me?😆 Since you are curious as to my personal thoughts though, sure, I have no problem with minute distribution at the moment. We need to give both Edwards and Wagner ample time to hopefully develop even though they are not currently that productive.

So then, I'll ask you what changes you would make if Edwards and Wagner don't develop before the SEC season starts? At what point does the team not starting out games in a hole become more important than some feelings getting hurt or potential promises made to one-year players getting broken? Also, do you have faith that Cal will make at least one change to the starting lineup if it helps the team?

As UKWildcats1987 said above, it's not rocket science when you see us starting games on the ropes and then the stark difference when Dillingham and Sheppard come in. One of the two needs to be starting, imo.

We have 3 7 footers and pretty good guards.......oh wait, we have 3 pretty good guards now did I get that right?

Is this the nun lady school that made an NCAA run recently, or am I mixing them up?

I think this team is pretty smart on basketball IQ so I think they will be ready. Just be ready for ST. Joseph to come out hitting a lot of their 1st shots early. Wish UK would come out with a strong defense in the 1st part of the game.

If and when we do get one or a couple of big men cleared, I'm curious - how will this mess with the current team's style of play? Will Cal return to his garbage post-up 1990s offense? Will the big guy even have the wherewithal to recognize when to kick it out if they have no shot, thereby enabling our 3-point threats to actually shoot three pointers?

And will this finally be the year Calipari's team of stars actually performs consistently well, together? By this I mean all of the kids contribute for every game, not 2 of 5 having a great night with 3 sucking wind, which is usually the case with Cal-coached teams of the past (and already rearing its ugly head this year with DJ and Edwards vanishing).

It's like he can't get all of the kids to play at least to part of their potential - they have an awesome game one night, then completely suck for 2-3 games, then have an average game. But rarely do we see all players having an "on night" together, consistently. I miss the days of "6-7 players in double figures!".

Starting tonight, we need at least B games from everyone - DJ, Edwards, Dillingham, Reeves, Shepherd, Thiero and Mitchell. If we had solid games from all of them every night, this team would be very, very hard to beat.
