We lost to Vegas by a point in a line that was drafted before Mintz injury was announced. That’s something, right

Anyone have an RPI or SOS or Sagarin or whatever ranking of all our Poop State opponents off the top of their heD? Just curious how this bunch compares to the other Poop States we've played and will play before Notre Dame. I'm at work or I'd dig into it myseld

Kenpom figures
Bob Morris 290th
Mt St Marys 296th
Ohio 100th
Albany 301st
North Florida 245th
Central Michigan 308th
Southern 300th

KP predicted a 26 point win. We won by 25. So did exactly what was expected. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Wow is all I can say to those. Yikes. Well at least we know what we've got in front of us. Let's just work on some things and stay healthy. Need to run the Buckeyes and Cardinals off the court

Yeah. I mean I understand we can't play the Dukes and Kansas of the world every game but these 300s should be teams above 200 IMO.
Overall the non conference won't look bad..........it's just very top heavy.

Allen does not give up more on defense than 80% of the rest of them. Did you see how many times Albany got to the rim tonight? This is not a good defensive team, yet.
Nope, I didn’t have the pleasure of watching the game! I just said Allen can’t be bad on defense and go 0-5! I know everyone on the team needs to pick up their defense.

25 pt win.... 4 guys out.. hard to ask for much better. The team wasn't going to be perfect, certainly not this early. But we're 4-1, doing a lot of things right, still lots to work on.
Just better brig better energy in Friday. No reason to play so putrid the first half.

Exactly. As a poster who bitches about the schedule, I'm not asking for those games every game. Have a couple of these. Keep the OOC games we have now. But no reason we can't have a few top 100 G5 or P5s in there too. Virginia Tech and Utah were good examples.

When striving to be 1 seed caliber/contender, playing to the spread at this point is an underperformance.

I will say tho even tho we have cupcakes pretty much every season, I don't think it's as bad as this every season. The amount of 300+ teams this season or teams in the 290s is alot.

But yeah there really is no reason. Heck doesn't even have to be power conference teams. Teams in the 100-150 range will do just fine. Those games will still be Ws especially with the bulk being in Rupp and it can only help our seeding and NET figures.

For sure. Although with such a new team, when several guys are injured, and Oscar has to leave the game with foul trouble, it's hard to get consistency going. I don't know if I'd call our first half "putrid" (although I don't think you actually think its that, I'm sure some here do). Just not our best basketball. A bit flat and uninspired. But we still go up by 9 at the half.

it's early.
We aren't going to beat the point spread every day.

But yeah eventually you don't want to be sitting in the 10th-15th overall range if u have dreams of winning a title. But there's still room. We crushed the point spread vs Robert Morris and we overperformed against Ohio as well. To the point where we have moved up a little bit already (from 17th to 12th)

Albany played better defense than I thought they would.

Anyone else feel like you're on pins and needles re: Oscar and foul trouble. This feels alot like watching Randolph Morris either his freshman or sophomore year, can't remember which. It was like it was him or nothing

I should know more about them as they play about 15 minutes from me. Obviously, they aren't good. But it also seems they've just been in a shooting rut. The general thought on them from folks around here, is that they should be better than 0-5. They also have a new coach.

I imagine that any player who isn't 100% in Cal's system, is going to rest against a cupcake-type team. I think there's various pros and cons to this, but I would generally agree.

We didn't need Toppin for this. Let's hope he's doing the right things to be available for later OOC play.
