Illy shooting was pretty hot this half*--55% overall and 62.5% on 3's. We're only down 4 and that's basically due to sucking at FTs again @ an u.g.l.y. 2 for 8. Should be tie game after getting outplayed for most of the 1st half.

*down to 51.6% and 55.6% after last couple trips down the floor

after the slow shooting start RU now 14-31 for 45%. Illinois has cooled off somewhat 16-31 for 53%

RU just 4-10 at the line

Improve transition D. Settle down and shoot better and RU can win this.

Johnson playing great D and, so far, avoiding dumb fouls. Young just gets better and better.

Geo seems less gimpy out there, I would like to see some more from him in trying to open up some shots if it settles down to half court possessions

Gotta make free throws to win. They are gonna foul as much as they can get away with. And until we start making the shots, they should.

He's enormous. Cliff is a such a big kid and Cockburn makes him like like a skinny high schooler
That’s because he is essentially. It’s the epitome of a man vs a boy. Things change quickly when Myles comes in. Sad it in another thread. This is a school day for Cliff. One day he will be the guy doing it to some wet behind the ears freshman. Cliff has never had to defend a guy like this.

Yep, Cliff will be beef-up as soph and junior and be the man vs boy.

Mathis has 10 points. His offense kind of kept us in the game for a while.

I agree some are a little harsh on MM. Yes it would be nice if he would finish better around the rim but he seems to generally play within his skill set.

one really good thing is Illinois’ secondary guards all have 2 fouls. Curbelo, Miller, and Williams. Continue this trend, it’s a good sign for Harper and Young in the second half

Tez is the kind of player when you’ve just about had it, he hits a dagger 3 or makes an acrobatic drive to the basket. Not to mention defense. Overall, he’s a net positive

We’re playing our game offensively, which unfortunately includes missed FTs. Defense shows flashes but is not up to our standards. Positive adjustments on D and we win.

No doubt Montez is a catalyst. If he could just finish at the rim a little better he’d be a star. Love his energy though and he’s fearless

RAC would be nuts right now especially after that young missed dunk/Myles and-one....miss it. Totally transforms the viewing experience.
