Where is this game commemorated on campus?

[dawgman42]

Pretty sure there's a display in the concourse of the Hump.

200 people see it twice a week for three months!

The handshake would actually be a very good idea for a statue at The Hump. I realize we lost the game, but still. Definitely historically significant and something for MSU fans to be proud of.

[FlotownDawg]

Definitely. If anything deserves a statue on campus it would be that. Invite any players from both teams who are still alive to attend and have a ceremony before a game to unveil the statue. It would be a great inclusive moment for our university and state.

I'd never seen this part of the story before:

"On March 2, 1963, Colvard issued a statement announcing that he would be sending the team to the tournament "unless hindered by competent authority."

I believe that's what the kids like to call throwing shade.

Ole miss alums ran the State. He knew there wasn't any competent authority.

"Competent authority" means someone with the legal authority to act in a particular situation. Not someone who is not too incompetent to stop me.

[AROB44]

I was a student at MSU at that time. Could not be more proud of our school at that time.

Quit stealing my joy with all that legalese mumbo-jumbo.
