Here’s the Thread. In addition to being a “close friend” of Higgins, the same article notes the animosity between Pollard and Calipari, going back to Cal’s Memphis days! How can a Cal-coached team have a fair chance at any game this man officiates?

UK fans don’t want any special treatment for our team, we just want a fairly-officiated game!
Ex-police officer in Missouri for 23 years. Not saying this about all cops, but it's no secret many have holier than thou power trip complexes. Explains this guy's staring down of Cal.

Mister Law Man needs to realize that there's a huge difference between enforcing the law on the streets and enforcing rules on the court.

The obvious question that remains unanswered is how this ref is officiating a UK game----when there is literally a published article about how much he dislikes our coach. How in the holy h..l does that happen? UK couldn't get a different ref for an NCAA tournament game?

(forgot to quote poster above)

That line up happened because the refs put Cason on the bench with bogus 2nd foul, Oscar had 2, and Toppin got his 2nd IIRC.

No way Cal was going to let those bozos give them their 3rd in 1st half. Kind of hard to blame him too much on that….. plenty of other things to blame him for though.

Read a thread on HOB earlier about this. Someone was saying there was a bad OOB call, a non goaltending call and a jump ball toward the end? Idk I got pissed and turned it off with a little over a minute to go. The goaltend on Collins was awful as well.

If you had what Duke got then K State would have only been called for 3 second half fouls like TN. (As opposed to the 11 second half fouls K-State was called for.)

Sorry that your new coach is not as nasty (er, respected) as Mike Krzyzewski.

Give him time.

Pretty egregious foul call as reeves never touched him, kept his Arms up the whole time, avoided body contact, got head butted in the face and called for a foul. What killed me was on the review the announcers said yeah that’s just a basketball play, you have to bring your arms up at some point, and just ignored the head butt completely which was the only contact made.

Spanarkel was a complete joker yesterday as well.

He was in love with the midget.

As I stated to my daughter during the game, we were never winning that game, whether we hit shots or not. Us hitting shots would have just resulted in more egregious officiating.

Prehaps the biggest call that hasn't been discussed yet came with 2 minutes to go in the first half. A foul was called, and they gave the foul to somebody other than Johnson who had 2 fouls already, and who was the only person who committed a foul on that play.

It isn't even necessarily about how bad calls are, but when they come. K State was realing and they take a bad shot, but the ref calls a foul to give them freethrows when nobody touched the guy. 2 of Cason's fouls were completely bogus, but one of those calls made him sit the last 4 minutes of the first half, and the other made him play less agressive in the final minutes he was out there.

Yea Kansas State made shots, and that bailed the refs out from having to make even worse calls, but it was going to happen if they hadn't made those shots.

People need to read and understand your post.

When the refs are in control, the refs are in control.

Cal had two great teams at UK. And only one of them was able to overcome the officiating to win a national title.

Don’t blame the refs. I get it. But I’m going to vent.

1. Toppins fourth was garbage and changed the game. No way was that a foul on JT.

2. Head butt to Reeves. No way that’s a foul on AR. Changed the game.

3. “Shooting” foul on Nowell. lol. Changed the game.

4. Strip on Cason called turnover on Cason. Kid was raked and molested and no call. Big time changed the game.

There were many others that were missed, especially in first half when Oscar was getting gang banged under the basket. Old white guy was terrible entire first half, and some of second. Grab and back, it’s worked so much that coaches go to it against us because O is just able to play through it most of the time. Should fouled out their big guy in the first half with his molesting of Oscar.

Venting. Needed to get it off my chest. Lot of ******** man. I don’t like to blame refs, but the four calls above each changed the game. Throw in Casons second that sent him to the bench. We should have been up 6 or 8 to end first half, we go down 3. That was big time. Yeah, we came back and took a lead, but should have been a bigger cushion.
I go back to the 70s as a fan. I've seen us screwed by the refs in every decade since then. Some people say refs don't decide the outcome of games. I beg to differ.

Thank you. I've seen this same stuff for 50 years. The opposing argument will quote foul stats or some such. That only tells part of it. Timing is everything.

Usually I see bad calls both ways because the refs just suck. However that game was brutal and the timing in a 1 point back and forth game killed us. How do they not go to the monitor on the clear pass, eyes looking at his teammate, arm not raised, but they give a 90% FT shooter 2 shots. That and the Cason hack called a TO were crucial kills.
And to beat it all, you had an alternate official come to the calling official on national TV and say, he was passing the ball. But the calling official said no, 2 shots.
