I mean I don’t love it either but he would be the only one if we’re committed to alternating L/R

I think he'll snap out of it soon. I mean earlier in the season he was atleast making good contact. He's trying too hard and looking bad on some of the swings.

This worked for Hull and Nicholson … why not Gallaher too? 😂 been riding the struggle bus for sure and hope he turns it around soon. He’s badly needed.

He doesn't have anyone behind him teams fear.they can pitch him carefully.
Haha. Everyone on this team gets pitched straight up without worry! His struggles have nothing to do with “protection”…. He’s not seeing pitches well at all (does not seem to be recognizing pitch type out of the hand at all, is watching good ones go by and swinging at others he shouldn’t be. Dare I say he looks a lot like Vance did up there a lot of his time here without the pop or speed. Seems to be a late bloomer each year, but I feel like this is worse before the rise and later before it starts.

Extended slumps are awful. I credit GG for not taking bad ABs to the field with him. Shows a lot of maturity on his part. Since we don’t have a clear cut option for the two hole I’d be inclined to leave him there and let him try to work through it, see if he can regain his confidence and get hot heading to the postseason. He’s proven that he can carry the club offensively for multiple series and he will likely be the primary determining factor in how far our season goes.

Last year there was more power behind him . Bass and Stoke where older players ( not mlb talent) but could leave the yard this year hull is a good player and mlb pick but doesn't hit a lot of homers and Winslow is a great prospect as a catcher but is a work in progress as hitter as well and could really develop into a power hitter later but without a big bat behind you can pitch him differently.

appeared to me that he started just going with the pitch. I think every hit was to RF. Before this game seem to be trying to pull everything.

Should he be taking called thirds? No. Yet he went 2-4. In his first at bat he hit a bullet over the 2B bag and then intentionally hit behind the shift for a second base hit. The prior game he went 3-5 with 6 RBI.

These "call-out" threads are created as slumpbusters. Hopefully, it is starting to work for Gavin. Admittedly, I only saw his one AB that I referenced above, and I didn't want to check the box score for fear of nausea.

Interesting…call out threads ain’t the kind of slumpbuster that was prevalent back in my day, but if it works that’s great…and a lot safer.

I still think he’s going to hit. He’s showing signs with some of the line drives he’s hit lately but not hot yet. I’m not going to predict anything because while I’m not superstitious I am a little stitious when it comes to baseball.

Depends on this last month, but I'd say he doesn't return regardless. He usually heats up this time of year.
Maybe others know more… but not really sure where he’d go. His draft prospects have to be literally slipping by the minute. He’s hitting .275, has only 8 HR’s, slugging percentage of only .450, and an obp of .365. Sorry, but that’s a dime a dozen in college baseball. And he’s a Jr. Not really sure why he hasn’t improved CONSISTENTLY the last two years… Its pretty crazy how down of a year he’s having. Imagine how everyone would feel about our prospects right now if he was just producing at the level of his last two year averages (not even his late season tears)?!?

Gallaher is a top 100 draft prospect. The draft isn't just based on your college stats. They know he can hit.
