I'm gonna go ahead a draw fire from some of you, particularly those who could not accept TS was relatively unproven...untested...those of you who anointed him the clear best QB for us primarily because he had better passing stats in limited action at Penn State, knew JoMo's system better, and looked better in practice.

Now that Tommy has lost the starting job to GS, it's a good time to compare these two based on their first significant play in P5 games;

KT - 51%, 1 passing TD, 2 INT's, 4 rushing TD's, 5.07 ypc vs Ole Miss & Louisville
TS - 50%, 1 passing TD, 4 INT's, 1 rushing TD, 1.94 ypc vs K-State + Tenn

Of course, Tommy has been injured, and that may have played a part, but then again, it might just be that he has now faced better athletes with the game on the line. Yeah, this is an annoying, "I told you so" of sorts, but I'll repeat the same sentiment I did then...I'm not saying KT was or is the better QB for us. I am saying the "jury is still out" because there has not been enough seen from either in JoMo's system, and, if anything, we have not seen Tommy able to do any better (or even as well overall) than KT or Fitz in his limited opportunities for whatever reason.

Flame away.

The experts at the Manning camp raved about Stevens performance there.

I think Stevens has the same issue that Rick Ankiel did that year in the NLCS. Just loses it mentally when the lights come on.

KT just need more time and development in the right system.

Thanks for the research and comparison. Sometimes it can be hard to judge QB competition in fall camp, with limited contact and most of the emphasis on passing technique. Moorhead may have failed to factor in the intangibles. KT had learned from Fitz, spelled him against SEC defenses and led the team to a bowl victory against a good Louisville team. He may not have been the best fit for Moorhead's system, but maybe Moorhead should have been more patient about implementing his system.

I took the coaches opinion for what it should be worth. He is the coach. If he thinks Tommy is that much better than what you have get him. Now tho I'm starting to wonder about his judgement. KT and Mayden either one could have lost just as good as Tommy. I kinda feel sorry for those two guys. They are over looked completely. But its Schraders team now. Hopefully Mayden will stick around as his back up

If we have a new coach, no telling what our Qb Situation is

If we go 4-8, our offense is bad, and Moorhead is gone, it most certainly isn’t (and shouldn’t be) Shrader’s team in 2020 without a legitimate QB competition between whoever is here.

There's a lot of difference between a guy who can throw a football in camp with great spin than a game tested SEC quarterback.
