I know we have heard over and over that Nebraska is a tough place to recruit. I admit I don't know where our recruiting ranked in the 90s. I believe it is tough to compare then to now due to stars and such.
Can we ever be consistently a top 10 recruiting school? I think yes. We have basically been an average team for the last 15 years. We were still able to pull in top 30 classes pretty easily. If Frost is able to turn this thing around and start having success, competing for BIG10 titles, being ranking in the top 10 or 15, being in the conversation for National title. I think recruits will start taking notice and make this hot spot to be.
Or do you think we will always be in the 20-30 recruiting ranking no matter the results on the field? I know the lack of high caliber in state talent makes it extra tough compared to the Ohio St, Mich, Penn St ect. They can call pull from in state talent.

I did a break down of the last 10 years and the team in the top 10. It shows how top 10 recruiting doesn't always translate to top 10 teams. (Fl St, Usc, LSU, Texas, Mich, Tenn)It also shows the dominance of Bama and Ohio St over the last decade.

Times over the last 10 years with a top 10 recruiting class first and and times finish season in top 10 second.

Alabama- 10 ( all in the top 5) 10
Florida St- 10 4
USC- 9 3
Ohio St- 8 8
LSU - 8 2
Georgia- 7 3
Auburn - 7 3
Texas - 5 2
Florida - 5 3
Michigan - 5 1
Clemson- 4 4
Tenn - 4 0
Texas AM - 3 1
Oklahoma - 3 6
Miami - 2 0
Mississippi - 2 1
Notre Dame- 2 1
Penn St - 1 4
UCLA - 1 1
Oregon- 1 6
North Car- 1 0

TCU- 0 6
Wisc- 0 4
UCF- 0 2
Mich St - 0 3
Stanford - 0 4
Iowa - 0 2
Washington 0 1
Houston 0 1
Mississippi 0 1
Baylor 0 1
Georgia Tech 0 1
South Car 0 3
Boise St 0 3
Okla St 0 1
Arkansas 0 1
Missouri 0 1

Probably not Top 10. At least not on a year-to-year basis.

But I do believe we can be in the Top 15 year-to-year. At worst Top 20 every year.

If you build it they will come. If we start winning , the players will want to play for Nebraska. Nebraska fans which all recruits say are awesome , show up even during crappy seasons . Facilities along with sports medicine program is mentioned by every recruit as being at the top. Throw in the national championship winning QB as HC along with the excitement from a 2nd year HC going undefeated at UCF with a bowl win over Auburn. Then look at Fisher who played for the Rams. We should be able to get some mizzu players and with this staff having long deep ties in Florida we should be able to get some recruits in Florida. Even though your tipical 10-12th grade student doesn't remember Nebraska from the 80,90s they do remember Frost at Oregon and what this staff has done the last 2 years , especially how the staff refused to leave the UCF players dangling in the wind for the bowl game.
This staff will recruit top 10 and top 15 classes.

I seen on the ESPN recruiting site they have us Huskers as the leader for Max Duggan. And if Duggan doesn’t come to us, they were thinking we have a good shot with another 4 star QB Grant Tisdale from Texas and possibly Michael Johnson Jr (but there thinking The Ducks will be the winners here since his dad is WR coach for the Ducks).

I’m curious on which QB we would take if both Duggan and Tisdale want to commit to the Huskers? Which is the better QB and has the best upside? Do we take Duggan since he’s from our 500 Mile area or do we go with Tisdale to help open it up more in Texas with recruiting....or take both...that’s what I’d like to see happen ;)

This also show how hard it really is to build a dynasty like Nebraska did and Alabama and Ohio St have done. Only 5 teams in the last 10 years have ended up in the top 10, 5 times or more.

Great info. There are many variables to top10 success - coaching, obviously, but also injuries (especially key injuries), player development, schedule, and even luck to a certain degree.

I agree.
It’s amazing what we’re able to do without winning. Imagine what we can do with it....
Nebraska is a goldmine for any coach. The key was always to start winning games that matter in the sense of “if you build it they will come.” We have been lacking in that column for almost 20 years.

We have the fans, the $, and the layout for success. If Coach Frost can turn this around and start beating the sh*% out of teams again like years past, we will be recruiting again like the 90’s.
