That's crazy. If you go from the Sunday game against Clemson (April 12) to the start of the CWS (June 12), we can make it to Omaha and not leave the state for 2 months.
If you count the Carolinas, we have left either of those since March 29 at the Notre Dame, lol

Forbes mentioned something about it on the podcast. Said they'd get to sleep in their own beds for the rest of the season, or something to that effect. I'm sure it makes a difference as far as meals, rest, and recovery go.

And given the unbalanced nature of the schedule, and that Duke and State usually run the same tract, with Wake in there some years, it's not surprising.

Couple of years ago, they got on a plane once all year....to Miami IIRC.

Cal and Stanford have jacked up the unbalanced - ness portion of the schedule even more these days though.
