Hate it for him but could be a blessing in disguise.... hear me out.....

IMHO, everything is predicated on our run game. If you don't have the confidence to consistently put Coleman and Augustave out there......then where do you get your running yards? > Sellers.

Coaching staff might do some boneheaded things but they're not completely stupid. - I'm perfectly fine with them coming to the same conclusion I've come to...... Give Superman the ball and get TF outta the way. Apparently, no one can stop Sellers when he actually chooses to run for real, so let him. Question is, will he? This season, the answer appears to be Yes. So, call his number and block.

Sad for him, what did he do to it? ACL?
There was a quick glimpse when the training staff helped him to his feet - let’s just say it didn’t look like both soles of his feet were touching flat on the ground as they should - I didn’t rewind to see it again. I would expect that he’s done for the season. As long as 21 and 4 stay healthy, we are in good shape at RB.

The fat d lineman for Oklahoma (the one with the Afro sticking out of his helmet like a ponytail) flopped on him at the end of his last carry. They’ll call hands to the face, hitting below the knees (on a defensive guy), and mark the ball where someone ‘starts a slide’ (wth did that come from? So if a guy dives forward they’re going to mark the ball where he started his dive? Geez), but they won’t call the very definition of unnecessary roughness.

In regards to your questions... sliding is the equivalent of taking a knee. You're giving yourself up. So yes, the ball is spotted where you began the slide.....not where the momentum carried you. As far as I know, that's always been the rule.

If a guy is diving forward, he has not given himself up and is still trying to get that extra yardage before being down so the ball is spotted "normally" where he actually went down.

The "protecting the QB" BS has gotten completely, COMPLETELY out of hand in both the NFL and now college. Our guy did everything right, even had his hands up, and backed off when he could have completely crushed their QB. He was playing hard within the "intent" of the rule.....and he still got flagged and ejected. It was total and complete BS. This is what it's going to turn into:

It's always best for a running back corps to have a bell-cow. So now, who is the bell-cow? Even when we had Williams and Long, back in the day, and both went for over 1,000 yards one season, Clarence Williams was considered the preferred back in must-do situations.

Sucks for Fuller because he was having a good year and waited his turn. Good back. Jabree Coleman seems like the obvious choice to be the guy. He’s looked good. Maybe it’s just me but Augustave looks like an animal. Long, filled out frame and touch to bring down. I could see him being a bell cow for sure.

You misunderstood what I was referring to. They marked sellers ‘down’ where he left the ground in beginning his slide, not where he landed or slid, and called it ‘beginning the slide.’ Like marking you where you left the ground in your dive. Never seen that call or interpretation before.

I'm not arguing with you but I'm saying I didn't misunderstand anything you said.

"They marked Sellers 'down' where he left the ground in BEGINNING his slide." ---- That's correct. 100% the correct call. It is where he "began the motion" of giving himself on the play. It's dead and the ball is marked at that spot.

And then you say you've never seen that before??? Dude, it's been that way at least a decade now in the pros and college. I think you're trying to corollate that somehow with "diving" forwards for more yards. Diving forwards is NOT giving yourself up.

Maybe we're just not understanding each other because it's the internet but yeah, that's been the rule for a long time.
