Garrett Nelson would make an absolutely nasty Fullback. Saw the twitter video Chaz in SoCal put out of him on the Right Tackle of Purdue....damn

Here's the clip. I hope he develops into a nasty OLB, we need those in the worst way.

Frost doesn't believe in fullbacks. Rich Rod found a way to fit one in at WVU with his spread but Frost hated the Mackovickas in secret . I mean, he always wanted to combine Oregon with Nebraska power but.....

I'd love to see us line up in a shotgun split form with a TE and a FB and run some power/option. I hate our offense currently. 0 identity. I hope that changes. I'm probably brain-washed into thinking Nebraska must be 70% running to find success. And our team currently can't even run a HB dive for 4 yards

Hating the Makovickas and the FB is a BOLD statement considering he won a natty with both.....but what do I know.

Just like Bruce1981 always hated Frost in secret.

You pretend to want to give the guy a chance but your posting history is riddled with total negativity toward the head coach.

You are a joke.

Thank you @Jhollenbeck41 for putting that beautiful picture in my mind. Nelson would absolutely destroy people at fullback. Unfortunately, Scott is locked in at Shotgun. I'm hoping over the years in the big ten he evolves into being more multiple.

Letting my mind wander a little bit but I think the longer he's in the Big Ten, the more it'll make sense to add more of the old school Nebraska stuff. That would be basically be like combining Ohio State and Wisconsin right now? Would be pretty sweet seeing Martinez under Center with a 310 lb Cam Jurgens snapping in to him, Nelson as the FB, and assuming Mills is gone by then and Marvin Scott shows up to campus as that "body builder type" but a little more bulked up at RB.....sweet lord that thought is fun.

Nelson is gonna be a dude. They need about 5 more of him at OLB.

FB idea is dumb in a gun offense. 22 and 32 personnel is not coming back no matter how hard you wish for 1994 to come walking back through that door.

When Frost wants a lead blocker he's brought a TE in to the backfield. He did that at Purdue.

Then I'll die disappointed. What I witnessed in the 80's and 90's will never change that.

Isn't it odd how a 6'8" tight end doesn't block as well at the point of attack as a hard nosed 5'11" 245 pounder?

The frustrating thing to me about the lack of a FB on the roster is that Frost wouldn't even need to spend a scholarship on the position! Just bring in one walk-on FB per year. Keep 3-4 on the roster. Let them play some special teams and have a handful of plays that they need to be ready to run.

What a beast Nelson would be a boss at FB. I really wish Frost would implement some aspect of power QB running out of the gun like Miss St. was known for. Martinez looks the part with a big body and decent mobility, just needs to not be afraid of getting hit and protect the ball. Needs to realize he has more of a body for power running and not so much finesse, which is not a bad thing at all. Imagine implementing an H back type lead blocker in a wing set shotgun formation or even pistol. If only...

The guys on Big Red Wrap up asked, if you had to say what the identity of Nebraska offense was what would you say. None could give an answer. We are a bubble screen offense? ? ? I mean, there isn't one thing they do well or consistent. An offense must have an identity. Something they can fall back on, something they know they can do and execute flawlessly.

I disagree. Ohio State doesn’t have an “identity” either. The difference is that Nebraska’s offense just doesn’t do ANYTHING really well.

True enough sir! But with our OLine I can almost understand why we throw about 800,000 horizontal passes each game that goes nowhere. What else could we do?

They’re a vertical power run offense. They’d take the handoff if it worked everytime to win . But they use it to set up a vertical passing game.

I agree, it’s hard to pin point their identity other than it works. But they’re so freaking talented they could run just about any scheme well.

My vote is a FB package featuring Damian Jackson.

That'd actually be pretty badass! I could see his Seal Team 6 side coming out strong as a lead blocker for his man carrying the rock. I'd like to see more of him in there somewhere, somehow... This would be an especially cool way.

They put skill guys in one-on-ones to beat their man for a house calls. So far we haven’t won enough.
