Full stadiums this fall

Would you go to a stadium if allowed to be full capacity?

As football talk and this fall is starting to begin. We are hearing of different situation and scenarios of how football could be played. Do you think memorial stadium will be allowed at full capacity? If so would you be willing to go with 90,000 other fans packed in as normal? Even if states and universities allow for full capacity I doubt most fans would be willing to do it. So either way I will be shocked if we see full stadiums this fall.

I’m not afraid, but I wouldn’t want to be seating with someone next to me and they have the Corona virus either...

What does Ricketts think?

Im kinda in the same boat. Im not afraid to the point Im locking myself in my house and not living. Being shoulder to shoulder packed in like sardines is a bit different.

Nobody required to go. Should have the right to choose. There are probably a few deep pockets who fear this scenario, as it might have a pretty big price tag to keep the "sellout streak" alive.Eek

Can you imagine doing 90,000 temp checks before the game started..

Take a while to get in the stadium that is for sure..

I've got Ricketts fatigue. His pressers often sound like a parent telling kids to eat their veggies, or forget about going outside to play.

They can use thermal scanners. We’ve walked through them at various airports and places. Anyone who glows red gets pulled aside for a temperature check. Easy.

So rather than thinking that 2020 season would be normal attendance, would Husker fans accept partial season tickets with stadium capacity limited to 45k max?
When does university typically process season ticket requests? Time running out to have Plan B ready to roll out.

Question is how would they divide the games if it actually is 7 home games?

Be a good idea that only half could attend the game's but how would that work if you paid for your season tickets and then some?

For season ticket renewals the deadline for payment of donation amount and ticket price was in March.

I've been told no refund but a credit for next year if something screwy happens

IMO the sellout streak will continue. If social distancing causes a max of 30,000 fans then the sellout is 30,000.

Tons of questions on how to implement it. Maybe designate S. Dakota St game for First Responders, Military and Health Care folks and family members.

I really hope that is not how things shape up. The vulnerable or honestly frightened can stay home and watch/cheer. Its not like the restrooms and walkways will be socially distanced, anyway. Restaurants/ bars, probably not, either, I would guess.

Honestly, I want to be at Memorial and enjoy all of you guys next to me.

But, this needs to come with some safety measures until we can vaccinate. I am not opposed to masks for all of us.

We MUST protect our elderly fans and those who have health concerns.

How about this... people who think masks are necessary for them are free to wear them. They can protect themselves by wearing a mask or staying home. Or NOT wear a mask. If I am elderly, I can take my own risks, thanks. If I had elderly parents who wanted to go in September, I might advise against, but they can do what they want in a free country.

You're a good poster, most likely a good person and appear to be reasonably smart. I just can't, for the life of me, figure out why Americans can't get it through their thick skulls that the mask is not only for yourself, it's also for everyone around you.

Easy, yes, but this isn’t two months ago when screening consisted of taking temp and asking if you have been around anyone who recently returned from China. As you probably have heard on the news at least a dozen times a day, many — or most — infected individuals have no symptoms when they are contagious.

I know the folks in the red baseball caps will have a stroke if they have to wear cloth masks to games, but a lot of them are probably still furious that their”constitutional rights” to smoke anywhere and everywhere were taken away. So they can adjust. Without this requirement there is no way you will have close to full stadiums in 100 days.

As skinny as bench seats are, it would be more like 20,000, at most.

I appreciate that. I just read an article today that cited 17 different studies that were non-conclusive as to whether or not masks even help vs flu. Furthermore, there is no way, in Hades, that I would go to a Husker game if I thought my survival depended on everyone else wearing masks to protect me. I would never want to impose even that "burden" on others. If my situation is that tenuous, I will happily stay home, protect myself, and let others do their thing. I have a nephew with a severe peanut allergy. His parents absolutely appreciate help from others when possible, but they in no way expect everyone else in their life's sphere to be peanut-free. Not sure if that is a perfect example, or not.

The whole thing is really really dynamic. Heck a lot of "vulnerables" are the guys and gals that volunteer their time on game day to shuffle people in and around the stadium. I guess I would think if Moos and the regents practice social distancing they can't justify packing 90,000 people into the stadium. For me I wouldn't open concessions and I'd limit the number of people in a restroom all at once.

From a practical standpoint on the masks...good luck with people wearing masks in 90-100 degree heat. And how the heck do you eat a Husker dog with a mask? If we can have a regular season by all attendees bringing and "wearing" masks, to appease the State, then...whatever. Bring it on!

I don't think you can really expect people to wear masks. It was just a few short weeks ago CDC said the only people who need masks are the infected.

Not that easy. Many season ticket holders are elderly and have been coming to Memorial since the 40s. You can count my elders.

Exactly, this can be applied to many places, almost everywhere. This is why a "stay at home" was ordered. Nobody can depend on others to give a **** about the rest of humanity. Let the boys play, we'll watch it on TV and ***** in Du's threa .

Except that people pass this on while being asymptomatic. That has become more obvious as time has gone on, hence the change in stance on the use of masks. Now, does it eliminate the chance of spreading the virus? No, but it likely lessens it.

Same here....

I'm a teacher. I had higher than normal blood pressure and cholesterol, which I have lowered through medication, diet modification, and more exercise. On the other end, I haven't been seriously sick with a cold or anything like that in about 4 years. I even emerged unscathed when our school closed for 3 days a couple of years ago because we had about 80 of the 205 kids in our building out sick. I feel like my immune system is pretty good. In short, I'm a toss-up as to how my body would react to this virus.

But, the bottom line is that I have other people in my house, and I have no idea how their bodies would react, either. I am not willing to take that risk for a football game.

It would be nice, for general discussion sake (not just on here), if people understood that there's a huge grey area between hiding in fear inside and being willing to sit crammed in a 90,000 seat stadium.

I'm not sure you could have a game without concessions. First of all it's a huge revenue maker and secondly what are people going to drink? If you let people bring in their own water then you have to have extra security screening people.

I haven't worn a mask yet but my wife is required to wear one all day at work. Theres no way anyone can expect thousands of people to sit in 90 degree temperatures while screaming into a mask. Multiple people already go down from heat exhaustion at the early games. They would be dropping like flies with masks.
