Favorable non conference schedule. Unfortunately I will miss the first two games as we will be out in East Lansing that weekend.

I like the schedule. I hope we can win 10 or 11 games in the OOC. It would be outstanding to finally have a decent record before playing games in the BIG.

They are a D-2 team from upstate NY. A few years ago they defeated Syracuse in an exhibition game. It made headlines everywhere.

Few thoughts..

Carinos point is spot on, no marquee home game Til maybe Iowa Jan 31?

Opening at the favorite Wisconsin, urg

Hate the D2 game, but seems like a lot of big conference programs are playing a d2 team more and more

But overall a chance at 10 wins before conference play, and some winnable B1G home games. Even the most optimistic fan can find a way for us to get 18 wins and be on the bubble lol

OK, I'll bite even though 18 is crazy talk.

We might not even be on the NIT bubble with 18 wins. Not with that non conference sked.

Also, what is the point of the "Scarlet Knight Showcase"?

They're a bunch of one off non conference games given a name . It's not any kind of tournament. No doubleheaders of any kind either.

Shill it appears that all four teams Drexel, Hartford, and North Texas all play each other, on the same two weekends, but only RU has Drexel N Texas and Hartford at home. But ya pretty pointless title, it must serve some exempt tournament purpose for the lower conference teams and maybe RU doesn't pay the usual buy game money guarantee, maybe BK or someone can explain the technicality behind it

And 18 wins would have to include 12 from the non conference, even Then you're right, would put us on the NIT bubble, with Molloy not even counting since it is d2 win

It does count as an exempt tournament. Without it we could not play 31 games or 13 OOC games. We would probably have only 28 games and 10 OOC games without our tournament. We need to win games and get some confidence and feel somewhat good about ourselves. We have been so bad the last few years that we needed to so we say walk before we can run. Personally at this time I think it was a good idea for this coming season. We cannot be 7-6 or 6-7 again in our OOC games. We need to win all 8 home games and hopefully about 3 of 5 out of Miami, Seton Hall, DePaul, Fordham and Stony Brook. Miami and Seton Hall probably will be very tough games. I think the other 3 we should have a decent chance in but nothing is guaranteed. Hopefully we can defend our home court in the other 8 home games.

I like the way this schedule is set up.

We could go 6-0 out of the gate, which we haven't done since 1975-76. (We started 5-0 in 2000-01 and 1982-83). That would generate some media buzz, and maybe start getting people back to the RAC.

If we pulled off a win at Miami, that would be huge, but even with a loss, we could start 8-1 before heading to Stony Brook - which would also generate some media buzz, given it was Pikiell's last gig.

It's not inconceivable to think we could be 11-1 or 10-2 going into the Seton Hall game.

The team has 12 games to really get its act together and gel, and to build some buzz among fans and the media. I know none of them are really marquee games, but a strong start should start to see the RAC regaining a bit of its pulse after flatlining for so long - and should give the team some confidence heading into SHU and then the conference schedule.

We need somehow to win the game at DePaul. It is on the road in the Gavitt games and hopefully we can show that we have really improved over last year.

6 conference wins will not be close to NIT bubble with this OOC schedule.

Molloy is on Long Island, just a few miles south of where Hofstra is located. It is a very small RC college. I lived near it for 15 years and didn't even realize that they had any sports above a D-3 level but then, LI is a bigger media vacuum than NJ is.

i think we all need to remember that this program has to learn how to win games. Only 7 games won last year and one conference win. There are so many newcomers this year and how quickly chemistry develops and how quickly Pikiell can eliminate the bad habits picked up from the returning players will of course go along way towards how many games they can win

A quick look at the non conference schedule, I see 7 wins at the low end and 10 at the high end. Not sure that we can correctly can any program a cupcake when RU has been a cupcake for years themselves. This is the right schedule for this program..much weaker than last year which was ridiculous. I dont think you can automatically predict sure wins over the likes of Stony Brook, Fordham , Niagara or De Paul just yet.

In league, RU still has the least talent of all the Big 10 schools and schools like Penn State and Northwestern have significant wins over RU the past two years. Of course RU has a better team and better team depth so that gap will be closed..but how quickly. Those are winnable games at home as are Nebraska, Illinois and Minnesota but beyond that its tough. Can RU pull one upset on the road and at home and win the games against the schools in the bottom 6? I see in league anywhere between 2 and 6 wins so overall I think we are looking at 9 wins ABSOLUTE WORST CASE SCENERIO and 16 wins ABSOLUTE BEST CASE SCENERIO. Thats a pretty big spread but we really dont know what to expect until we start seeing this team play games together.

Personally Im looking forward to seeing a team that will play defense and cut back on the silliness on the court. Id be happy for starters at 13-18 and anything better than that is gravy to me

not anymore....500 schools dont go to the NIT, RU would likely have to be 17-14 and then win two in the Big 10 tourney to get to 19-15 to be in the discussion

oh I absolutely hate that Penn State is on January 1, not only is it Jan 1 but a Sunday to boot and this game has NOON or at best 1 written all over it...and I HATE HATE that Wisky game at MSG..its going to be a weak RU turnout and Wisky will have a pseudo home game

Couldn't agree more. It's the final Sunday of the NFL season. As a Jets season-ticket holder, I'll be at the Meadowlands for the 1 p.m. game vs. the Bills.

Molloy head coach promised Colts Neck's Chris O'Reilly a game near home when he committed.

Soft schedule this year and maybe next year are ok while Pikiell is recovering from the mess that Jordan left him. We'll still have Seton Hall OOC every year, a Big East game (probably) and an ACC game. Throw in the NJ schools, it's ok.

Imagine entering the B1G 13-0. Could happen.

Let's start 5-1
Molloy ???
Drexel 6-25 #252 kenpom
@depaul 9-22 184
Niagara 7-25 324
N Texas 12-20 288
Hartford 10-23 314

Love the OOC schedule. 1/2 OOC starts with cupcakes, 2nd half is a mix of cupcakes and real opponents and then B1G.

5-1 4-3 3-15 0-1 12-20
