I mean you can’t come up with a better defense than that when you’ve held them in check somewhat of the game? Is this on Kirk or who? Probably the players … I puked up my last beer- no way this **** should of happened but great teams rise to the top

Sometimes other teams are just better. Btw, Iowa didn’t hold them in check. Oregon averaged 7yd/carry.

I didn't understand Oregon throwing as much as they did at the end. They had been gouging Iowa on the ground and had already thrown a pick, plus had a full complement of timeouts. Seemed like they were asking for some bad voodoo to happen.

Iowa just doesn’t have the talent on offense to win the big games. When Kirk leaves we may be able to have the talent on both sides of the ball to be playoff ready.

They kind of ran it down our throats, yet a fumble by KW, Mouton not getting a foot down, 2 bad snaps on punts. We didn't play a clean enough game...

I was thinking the same thing. Why on earth were they throwing the ball? They were well inside field goal range and throwing the ball only risks an interception. In the end, it doesn't matter. Another winnable game slips away.

Phil didn't blitz once on that game-losing drive.

When Phil's defense had to keep MSU out of the end zone in the 2015 Big Ten title game with the CFP on the line, Phil couldn't do it. MSU went on a season-long 22-play drive and scored the winning TD in the final 40 seconds.

After Akrum Wadley led the Hawkeyes back to take a lead over PSU a few years ago with about a minute to play, Phil's defense failed again, allowing a game-winning TD pass on the final play of the game with exactly one second on the clock.

There are other examples, but after Gronowski takes Iowa on a highly improbable 92-yard TD drive to score the go-ahead TD with under 2 minutes to play, the defense MUST get a stop. When it mattered most, Phil and the Iowa defense failed . . . again.

Exactly my thoughts. But because Phil failed to blitz, they got away with it.

On offense? Helll, the offense just drove 92 freakin' yards for what should have been the game-winning TD, but the defense folded. How about a blitz, Phil?

To me, they exploited the biggest weakness we have-the secondary. That last drive they got everything they wanted. They had time to run short yardage pass plays and Iowa gives you that. Starting at 1:29 they completed 5 passes to get in FG range.

It just seemed more risky than necessary. Absolutely getting whatever they wanted on the ground and then giving a potential tipped ball/deflection/jumped route didn't seem to make sense.
