I'm surprised at how low they've been ranked and at how KenPom had them at 10-8 in the ACC. And they have barely cracked the top 25. But, they beat UNC and they barely lost at Duke in a game they had basically outplayed Duke for 35 minutes.
Maybe they will wind up at 10-8, but they have so much depth. They have a great perimeter that is also pretty tall (3 guards at 6'5 plus and all can rebound and shoot). And, they've been without their starting center, 7'4 Koumadje since Nov. 24. That has also allowed the young 7 footer to get some PT though. When Koumadje returns their depth will be astounding.
With Duke, UNC, UVA, FSU, MIA, Clemson, Notre Dame, and some other potential surprises ... this is going to be another war with a lot of attrition. It will be a challenge to maintain confidence as every team is going to suffer losses in conference. Inevitable with that many strong teams. There will be some really tough games for Duke. I don't think there's any predicting where we wind up as far as wins-losses in conference. The BC loss could hurt at the end. It may also be the team that gets hot at the end of the year is the one that will win the ACC.
