All these people just got more expensive. He does know he isnt the current DC? Amazing how FSU fires a coach and Schiano becomes a favorite to coach USF...

This is a real shame. I really wanted WT to succeed at FSU but they've looked undiciplined and soft since he started there.

Joey Freshwater has to be on the list at Florida State. He's actually learned a good deal at FAU, and he will kill it in recruiting.

Looks like if your are a school's first black coach (they had an interim black coach for 2 games and a season before Taggart.. you have a short leash)

I remember Notre Dame tossed aside Tyrone Willingham in 2 years

Kevin Sumlin got 5 years at A&M and did okay.. but got booted...

Charlie Strong.. 3 years at Louisville, 2 at Texas..

I am sure there are other examples..

Eh.. I suppose everyone is on a short leash these days... We wanted Ash gone in 2 or 3. Maybe these programs have a better way of identifying when things are not going the right direction and have the resources to make a change quickly.

Iirc...Didn't strong leave the Ville to coach at Texas? Am I wrong?

Race has nothing to do with it. A bad coach is a bad coach.

Oh wow eating up about 17M if IIRC....Taggart joining the "unicorn" club being fired after 2 years actually even less than 2 years....now that's something. Is the AD that hired him still there and will he follow him out? I mean they went through a lot just to get him...paid not only Oregon but also USF IIRC cause he was still in the middle of that buyout and now out in 2 years.

The NFL has a rule about interviewing black candidates for a reason. We should too.

Due diligence is in order. I think we need what Schiano can give.. or some offensive guru with a dynamic system recruits will buy into.. but otherwise.. interview the guy. Cannot hurt. Maybe he ends up Schiano's DC recruiting Florida.. you never know.

Man, you're way off here...just looked at Strong. He was at the Ville 4 years not 3, and Left for Texas which he was at for 3 years and not 2.

Come on man...and Sumlin got 5 years and your playing the race card. Generally we're aligned but wow. That's s leap with incorrect data ..

Why not?
Took a WKU that was 2-10, 0-12 in 2008 and 2009 to 7-5 in his second year.

Took USF from 3-9 from Skip Holz, had them at 8-5 in year 3 and 10-2 in year 4.

Took Oregon which Mark Helfrich cratered to 4-8 to 7-5 in his first year.

Jimbo Fisher peaked at FSU and left them broken. 3 of their losses this year were by a margin of a TD or less. FSU's loss could be RU's gain!!!

Thanks.. my bad... wiki listed seasons like 2010-2013 and I just subtracted

I suppose the Ty Willingham thing always stuck in my head.. but I suppose he failed at other spots. As you know, I don't usual go in for the "race card thing".. I just think there's a particular point where sports is concerned. I mean, in general, the USA is about 12% black.. but in FBS college football.. what is it.. 40%? 50%? more? I think at some point the coaching ranks should reflect that.

This sounds familiar. RU should bookmark this:
https://www.tomahawknation.com/2019...-taggart-effective-immediately-briles-leavitt

We’ll have more on this question later on in the week but a lame-duck coach sticking around for another year might crush the local economy. The advent of college town as another revenue source for a fairly young football program/athletic program in general would lead credence to the idea that saving five million a year from now by keeping Taggart an extra year would actually do more damage than the extra year paid out by firing him now.
One thing that FSU fans should keep in mind is that the next coach isn’t about immediate national relevancy; it’s about getting back to respectability. About FSU becoming a disciplined, well-coached football team.
