Pelini's second year with Callahan's talent was pretty good - ranked #14 in the year end polls, beat Oklahoma, came within a hair of winning the Big 12 championship, demolished Arizona in the Holiday Bowl. That was the peak of Pelini. Once the Callahan talent was gone, Pelini's teams weren't nearly as impressive (barely top 25 or unranked).
Solich had the same problem once he ran out of TO recruits.

All the stories now coming our from past players. Newest one from Steve Taylor Frost is just a Dick. No other way to put it. Glad he is gone. Time to move on. Hope MJ rights the ship. GBR

The HEAD COACH wasn't responsible for four years and a change not going right? So it's the defensive coordinator that didn't recruit offensive talent, get decent QB play, and constantly have a team with no discipline.

You wanna know what Ohio State has done under Ryan Day, or Jim Harbaugh has done at Michigan with bad defensive coordinators? Yeah I didn't think so.
