Frost has been given a wide berth. If he were just 21-21 instead of 15-27 he'd have plenty of support. Big time winners don't lose at the rate Frost loses at.

Plenty of programs have gone the coaching carousel before finding their guy. Could you imagine Bama sticking with an underperforming Mike Shula bc they were tired of playing the carousel? Would have deprived them of an all time great dynasty.
Yep. Frost has gotten more leeway than any coach at a major program that i can remember. Hell, rich Rodriguez and Brady hoke did better at Michigan and neither got a 5th year. The fact that even frost's biggest critics on here would have been fine with him returning if he got to 6 wins in year 4 says it all. The reality is he just isnt a good coach. We all wanted him to succeed, but it is time to move on now.

Actually they did at least once, Terry Allen had 5 straight losing seasons Laughing Mangino came in and took them to a bowl game just his second season.
Ok they did 20 years ago. Terry Allen's 5th season was a disaster and his worst season there. His first 4 years were very comparable to what frost has done. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for bringing back frost.

Oh I would agree, I just thought it was funny that they kept that guy around for so long.

No coach will ever have this much love fest and leeway in this program history ever again. I get why people want him back, it's just stupid to do so since he is sucks and a lot of people will have no hope for next year and if loses again, which is most likely to happen, we will just have to do this again. At least next year there will not be a debate this time.

Lower buyout and more money for a new staff will be available.

We will see how next season goes. If we lose to Northwestern, well, you know how the noise is going to be.

That sums it up. 1 winning record in 6 years tells everyone what they need to know.

If Frost is back, he needs to donate half his check to Chins and the other half to Fitzy.

If Frost is back, then Trev is an idiot, and has no business being a big-time AD.
Agreed although moos giving him the big extension would deserve some blame since the price of firing him is high. A big time program should be able to make the necessary move though.

Not so long ago social media wouldn't have twisted the horrific results Frost has had into anything but horrific. His record shows he doesn't even deserve another game end of story.

Social media is a terrible thing, no doubt. But how is it helping Frost keep his job?

You have likely been one of those from your couch leading the charge of always firing coaches and ADs. How's that genius plan worked out through the last 15 years?

Trev will have a more level headed mind hopefully and stick with Frost because there's no doubt his teams are getting better and more competitive. They are still playing very hard and are very competitive. Firing Frost means starting all over again. The problem is people like you out there think there was a quick fix and the reality is there's not because Urban Meyer or Lou Holtz won't be walking through the door.

according to Reggie Bush...Frost deserves to be retained and given not just 1 more year but 3 more years...can't even imagine 3 more years of this incompetent coaching.

My nightmare would be Frost is retained, but somebody hires Chins as a HC and he moves on. Without a good defense, things get even uglier.

God people have such short memories! Does anybody remember last weekend against Purdue? Three weeks ago against Minnesota? How about in late August against Illinois? In what universe does anybody think this team is close?

Quick fix? Hell, at this point people just want to get to six wins again. Something Frost hasn’t been able to accomplish in his 4 years.

The bar has officially been lowered. We 100% could find a coach that would be able to come in and make a bowl game very quickly. Retain Frost and its more sub .500 seasons. The dudes a bad coach.

Exactly. The decision to fire Frost has to be based on his whole record and not just on a few games where we looked good against top ten teams. His overall record is atrocious. He should be let go.

Someone else once made the point that teams like Michigan, Michigan State and Oklahoma have had a lot of close games this year, thus playing them close has as much to do with their inability to put teams away at times this year (OU struggled with Kansas, even with the upgrade at QB ffs). So really, the "close games" narrative is not very well thought out.

Empathy is a wonderful thing to possess with family, neighbors ... hell, in just about every life endeavor that doesn't involve shitloads of money and/or life itself.

And despite his having more wealth now and into the future than I'll ever possess (and I've been mostly very successful in my 37-year career), I feel empathy for just about anyone experiencing failure, especially very public failure. So I have a soft spot in my heart for Scott Frost, just as I did for Mike Riley, Bill Callahan and Frank Solich before him.

But failure in a business as high-profile as Nebraska football can't be put up with for this long, and at this rate. When I first became a manager, someone told me the about the most important phrase a manager can have in their lexicon: "This just isn't working out." It doesn't place blame. It doesn't assign motives. It just states facts.
  • 4-8, 3-6 in the conference
  • 5-7, 3-6
  • 3-5, 3-5
  • 3-7, 1-6
Trev needs to steel himself today or Monday, and prepare to say these words as soon as he and his managers are ready for him to do so:

"This just isn't working out."

I think the most damning stat is that we have never been better than 2-4 in the west division. Potential to be 3-3 this year but would have to win out.

We have never finished better than 5th in our 7 team division.

Thanks for proving my point. Same mindset that was used after Solich, Callahan, Pelini, and Riley were fired.

Please list all the college coaches that were retained after 4 straight losing seasons after being hired that went on to accomplish anything of significance.

Only the defensive staff should stay..

The only reason the defense is not taking heat is because the offense is so bad. we just wrote our name into the Ohio state record book for giving up the most yards to a receiver Yet, no complaints about the defense. when was the last time we actually pressured the quarterback ? the last time I can remember was the first half of the Illinois game and it stopped after that

Moos didn't get forced out because the extension wasn't long enough or because he was going to fire Frost.

You can always tell someone to stop drinking. Why would you pay them to just go away? Hmmm...

I’m not defending Frost, but that D gave them their lowest output of the season points wise as well as yards per play. They played their *** off and gave us every opportunity to win this game. Couple big stops and we didn’t do anything

Uhh no, and of the above coaches right away were expected to fairly quickly start competing for championships or at the very least 9+ wins.

Frost has moved the bar so low if a new coach comes in and just makes a bowl game he’s a hero. Hell, if he could just find a kicker or someone that is even a slight threat to return a punt he will probably get an extension.

I won't be tough on you in my reply as I'm guessing you are in complete meltdown mode now with the news Scott will be back!

Sounds like a lot of people have the answers and should have submitted a resume when the AD job was open. Myself, I plan on trusting TA decision for whatever reason it was made and continue to be a fan. TA seems to be level headed, a good person to have in charge and not quickly shaken. all the bitching in the world is not going to change the decision made so get onboard and support the team and their feeling towards SF. Keep the faith and lets move forward.

My biggest fear in this is another losing season. It’s so damn hard to watch. I understand that they are playing harder, but QB play, O-line and Special Teams have kept me from seeing any “progress” that others seem to see. I see Ws and Ls and don’t care that we’re the “best 3 win team in the country.”
