Frost mum on who could possibly be that 4th guy behind Masker.

Alec Cromer would be my guess. Possibly Wyatt Mazour - he played in high school and doesn't seem like he'll get many reps at RB anyway. He's awfully short for a college QB, though, but we can't be too picky at this point.

Cam Taylor would probably be the best option, but we need him on defense, and it would probably take him all year to learn the playbook.

Let’s hope he’s not doing coach speak. Some coaches have been known to down play or overstate injuries so teams don’t know what to prep for.

As for this weekend & Troy let’s hope the team is taking it more serious then fans are. The game still has to be played and there are no guarantees

Can Cromer even play this year?

Got about as good of news as they could, he is day to day, no real ligament damage at all.
Translation. He sprained his MCL but we're not going to tell our opponents. You don't miss practice IF there's not some at least stretching of the ligament which is really what a sprain is. The good news is that he's young and he'll heal quickly. I suspect he could probably play if he had to Saturday but personally I hope if he does that he sees very limited action.

Unless he's 100%, I'd rather we sit him this week. Not really interested in seeing our most critical player be lost for the remainder of the season (or worse). Maybe then he can be near fully healed by the next game.
We've got our QB for the next 4 years IF he doesn't leave early for the league. This kid is for real and I don't want to damage him for a game or season that isn't going to make or break this coach. This team is going to be good by the end of the year if we can keep AM healthy.

Coachspeak for sure. Probably over-parsing Frost, but no damage vs. no real damage (he stated the latter). At the least, the kid tweaked his knee pretty good and it would be best to let it settle a bit, get any inflammation down and make sure the knee is strengthened and stable before he plays the next live snap.

I would rather see us go 0-2, with a healthy Martinez ready for B1G play, than go 1-1 but have Martinez aggravate the injury or make it worse.
I agree... this kid is special and is our future. Troy is good but so are we. And Bunch can really sling it. No need to play Martinez.

There will be pressure from the kid to play ASAP. It is incumbent on the coaches to resist the temptation to suit him up before he is ready. But in Frost, you have a hyper-competitive guy, so it will be hard. And the med-staff and trainers will likely follow the guidelines, so when he is cleared he can play.

To compare, Troy's QB Barker was an NR per Rivals and a 2* per 24/7. If we lose the game, it likely won't be because Bunch was the QB.

We haven't found a 4 year qb yet if you ask me.

I seem to recall Frost once indicated that he tends to give out the absolute minimum on injuries, not unlike most pro and college coaches. So it could well be coach speak. All we can do is wait and see and hope the backups do ok.
