Didn't he just bring in an almost entirely new coaching staff? I'm guessing they at least stay on with the associate head coach?

Maybe they made him an offer…save face and we’ll fire you now if you agree to meet us halfway on severance… otherwise we’ll wait til October when the package goes down
Why would Frost do that, they have to pay him $7.5 million more by firing him before Oct. 1. Not many people will take that kind of a cut, even if they offered him half of it, it is still a LOT of money!

Associate Head Coach is new too. Kind of light on experience, but he was associate head coach at LSU in 2019 when they won the national championship. Maybe he will bring Orgeron over for help.

That’s embarrassing for Trev Alberts to start a season that bad - tells you they should have made a move after last season. What are Alberts’ qualifications for AD besides playing there? I guess Bosworth turned down the job first.

What a waste of $8 million they could have used on a new coach by waiting 3 weeks. Short sighted emotional decision
That's Rutgers type thinking. Nebraska will just do it now because it needs doing now and the money will be worked out. A bake sale, a hot dish fundraiser, and a couch cushion change drive, no big deal. Huskers fans will make it happen. They may not have big time results since they fired Pelini, but they still think, act and pony up like a big time program.

Actually good news for us. Had they kept him until the end of the month to save $, we would have been the first game for a new coach. They would have been psyched to show their best.

Just guessing why Nebraska wouldn’t wait. Not sure I see Nebraska salvaging this season unless there ready to bring someone bigger in mid season. 2 games in… maybe Frost can make an argument for consideration as a head coach elsewhere (maybe at a lower tier conference). A couple more games / losses and he he definitely won’t have that option…. but to your point likely not enough to make up for the $’s he’d give up

The pressure there is astronomical compared to here. The fans still think it’s the 90s and the program is relevant. I also read their fan boards last night and ours are mild compared to theirs.

AHC is pretty much a title only to get more money for assistants. In reality he's been nothing more than a WR coach his whole career thus far.

I could see them going for Campbell or Fickell. Both would get out of the sinking Big 12 ship and into more resources. I don't think they want any part of the Urban traveling circus.

Reading that Frost had his pay cut from $5 million to $4 million and agreed to having his buyout drop from $15 million to $7.5 million on Oct. 1 makes me think it was obvious they would release him barring a stellar season. And how could he have his heart in the job after having a pay cut and reducing his buyout by 50%.

Big time programs make this move right now, no questions asked

Should have been made last year but bc of what he did there they gave him another shot

Boosters already had money in the coffers and this was the last straw

Kudos to the Huskers for making it happen

The phones of high school coaches of the Nebraska players are going to be ringing off the hook. "Hey coach, you still in touch with..."

Maybe he will use the buyout money to buy some better clothes. Watched the game last night and it looked like a homeless was their coach.

Bo Pelini is available. And he was at LSU in 2020, the year after the Interim Head Coach. They could get Orgeron in and get the band back together.
