There has been 3 things that has happened this winter that r all positive! 1. Sold recruiting 2. Good Walk-ons 3. Positive coaching movement. He has been able to get the recruits to look at red shirting. We have a crap load of young players on this team. Good walk ons r making r position depth much better. The addition of the new OC is huge. This team is getting much closer to competing in the conference.

For me, it's downright amazing that him & staff get terrific recruiting "again" despite two losing seasons. You betcha, HCSF is building a real-deal NU program that will have thrilling fun for us fans soon.

Fans sick & tired of watching NU unable to run over anybody? The fluff-ball disaster is close to being long gone.

We'll see. Everything looks like the right moves at the moment. But we won't actually know for sure until we see results on the damn FIELD! PERIOD!!!

Exactly, too many people here automatically thinking we're on track. We need to prove it. Frost's Achilles heel will be a bad D yet again this year.

What is the answer to the defense? Ru one of those fire the coordinator guys? Yes I expect the d to take a step back this fall with youth, but at least we finally have a scheme in place and some continuity

Our D will not be taking a step back this year. We do have some vets that have a lot of playing experience and this staff likes to rotate a lot so there is quality depth of experience there to say the least.

Chinander has not regressed this defense not once yet while he's been here and quite honestly I trust him to keep improving it year to year. I think he knows what he's doing.

The leading tackler at linebacker and the leading tackler on the DL need to be replaced. In order of finish in total tackles, 1, 7, 8 and 9 leave. Stille has starter's experience and has played in some fashion since his RS frosh year. I would thing Deontre and Damion will be the other starters Not much in terms of proven depth, but certainly I'd think NU will get something out of Green, Ty, Rogers and/or Wildeman. Honas and Miller will at least start out in the middle. There are promising players behind them (Mauga is intriguing), but depth remains a question mark. Tannor, Jojo and Nelson return at OLB. DiCap, Cam (6th leading tackler), Clark, Deontai, and Dismuke (3rd leading tackler) all return. Depth not proven, but promising.
Don't see big improvement on the DL, but if that group could hold serve in terms of productivity, that would be great. LB play could improve this year. Jackson is gone, but lots of experience remains among the DBs and Deontai returns from injury. In addition, quite a bit of young talent has been added to the roster and Fisher knows what he is doing with these guys.
The defense improves when a QB is worried about getting hit as opposed to waiting for a WR to get open on a 3rd and long. Not sure if that happens this year.

For skeptics, just wait until the Spring Game. You will see a much different team from the past three years. Much bigger, stronger and faster and the coaches will be a well-oiled machine. This has been the off-season of all off-seasons!!

Ya. If the D kicks *** people ***** about the O and vice versa. It's mainly a huge recruiting tool and for the fans who are starved for football.

He’s done everything pretty much right except for winning. As we all know, in football it takes 2-4 years to see the results. With the mess that Eichorst left us in I’ll give Scott until year 5 to really blow up and I think he will.

I like the hire of Lubick and his willingness to let go of what isn’t working and to retain (aka pay) those that we need to keep around (Held, Fisher).

The great thing with Frost is if he ever gets it going, he will stay with us and not bolt for another program or NFL. I can see him being another Tom or Dabo.

I'm thinking, if our old starters at LB aren't improved, they will get passed up. Henrich, Greene, Mauga, pachages, more depth at safety helping those packages, theres severalLBs I'm not mentioning, the back seven will be improved, and for the spread offenses especially.
Everyones concerned about stopping pro set power teams like iowa, and forget the purdues, minnys, psus, osus etc offenses.
Getting more speed at LB works against both spread and pro sets, we will be improved, the new guys will have to settle in, but it wont take long.

We can only hope. On this same note, hoping Ty and Casey takeover on DL with more athleticism, and one of these new OLB can finally give us an edge rusher threat we so desperately need. We reccruited new talent by still may be 2-3 years away from having a good D.

I hope so. We, as fans deserve it. The "rebuild" recruiting pitch won't work for most players next cycle, they need to see results on the field. l am trying to be optimistic about the two additions to the staff. I am more impressed that SF made the moves. I feel better about him this offseason. I think he knows we have been very patient the last two years. NOW is the time to put a good competitive team on the field. I don't expect a West title but at the very least we should beat either Hawkey or that toothy gopher. 7-5 is my "prediction" but my expectation (there is a difference) is 8-4.

Mauga had 23 TFLs at his JUCO last season and has the skills to be used in a variety of ways. Possibly a better, faster version of Domann, who was second on the team with 10 TFLs.

True....saw the Husker spring game on TV (KOLN/KGIN) in the late 1990s. Worst college football I had ever seen. I hope that was an abnormality.

If Lubick will be anything like his old man, he's a great pickup for the staff. Huge fan of what his dad did at CSU.

Sounds like Lubick wants to stay around for the long haul, which is great for continuity. He’s 47 so he’s relatively young and is also great recruiter. From what I heard he will oversee the passing game as well as the receivers therefore giving Frost more room to play the role of a CEO, in which he should.

I think one thing that is important, and maybe isn't be talked about as much, is that HCSF seems to value continuity a lot as well as being well-rounded (not just X's and O's). He isn't fast to make changes, tries to let things play out, but is willing to make the tough calls. The 2 positions he let go are arguably two of the weakest positions (and ST). He filled them both with former staff members that know the system and are also decent recruiters.

This skeptic is waiting for the regular season. We have been champions of the off-season for years, beating our chests that Nebraska is going to be good, then the regular season comes and we lose to powerhouses like Colorado, Indiana and Purdue.

I don’t, but let’s review.

We brag about another great recruiting class while other teams play in bowl games, then it will be how nobody sells as many spring game tickets as we do, then it will be a bunch of blathering from the coaches about unity and how fast and strong the players are getting, then fall practice will be the best they have ever seen, then they walk into the field against another team and we say “WTF!”.

I think some people should log off until they're proud to be Nebraska fans again.

There's no reason to tell fans they can't enjoy the little steps of the journey and the only acceptable time to express any satisfaction for the team is on the Sunday after a win. That's asinine.

Another great class? Each coach has an eye for talent, each coach has a certain degree of developing players.
We've had two full classes from this staff, where 40 of them have rarely played or arent even on campus yet.
So, getting new coaches is exactly like the old coaches?
Some fans need to lighten up

On track is different than suffering through realities. He is building a foundation. He could have kept half of the previous staff, cut back on his attrition, and had a lot more continuity with the Riley era...Bo did such a thing and won 8 and 9 games in his first years. Sadly Bo didn't have a vision and the program stagnated as it continually kept reacting to its weaknesses.
