Frontier Airlines coming to Jackson

[benatmsu]

Direct flights to Denver and Orlando.
Great news for us central MS guys.

Game changer

[K Pickles]

That is great news.
In just the last couple years, I've driven down to to New Orleans 3 times for their cheap flights, twice to Denver and once to Ft. Lauderdale. As long as you know what to expect, they are great.

I just wish they would do a flight to Atlanta and Houston to give delta and United some competition on those routes.

I’ve never flown frontier but will certainly give them a shot.

I use MSY (New Orleans) and flew JetBlue for the first time recently. Man, I haven’t looked into where all the are connected to, but that was one of the most enjoyable flights I’ve been on in a long time. Flew delta on the return trip because the times were the only ones that lined up, and it JetBlue was infinitely better.

I flew Frontier once from Nashville to Denver. Seemed like every other airline to me.

Frontier is a ****** airline like Spirit but beggers can't be choosers. They nickel and dime you like Spirit does.

[patdog]

What this will do is put some fare pressure on the other airlines for flights. You'll be able to connect to most anywhere in the country from Orlando or Denver.

What's your definition of a bad airline? Charging your for baggage? Keeping their schedule?

Great news for us central MS guys.

** WARNING ** Frontier offered non-stop flights from Newport News VA to Denver for a couple of years. I had SEVERAL return flights cancelled at the last minute simply because the planes were less than half full. Frontier pulled out of the airport abruptly two years ago.

Good luck .. Frontier is NOT reliable.

[Len2003]

I've flown it twice. I never had any problems, but I've heard enough stories from others to be wary.

Just how thorough will the bags be checked on the flights back from Denver?*

Put in your carry on... Just saying..

Good luck with that. I’ve been burned one time too many to fly frontier again. It’s a nice cheap option when things go well - but I only had 1 trip out of 4 or 5 that went well. Decided I was done with them after they wanted to leave me stranded in Denver for 4 days.

Best news for Jackson in a long long time!

[RocketDawg]

Frontier announced similar service to and from Huntsville just last week. It might sound better than it actually is ... don't know about Jackson, but here it's only 2 or 3 flghts per WEEK to each destination.

My son booked tickets today on Frontier round trip from Denver to Jackson - non stop - for the A&M game weekend. Paid $100 round trip, plus luggage cost at checkin. Must be some promotional pricing the next few months to Jackson due to new (or renewal) service from Denver to Jackson.

It's how they operate. Most of their markets can't support daily service, or their competitors already have daily service. It works out by helping them achieve higher load factors at reduced operational costs. Even in large markets, they will fly 2-3 times weekly to a destination.

This is the gamble with them. If your flight gets canceled for some reason then you are probably stranded until the next flight out, which for Jackson is 3-4 days
