I have absolutely no qualms with Dana or the staff he put together. They had a lot of turnover every year and signed quality coaches. But they did not have an identity as a staff.

Neil Brown is putting together a staff with a CLEAR identity. It's beautiful. Great acquisition.

You say that until WV loses one you think they shouldn't.

Out of the 4 new coaches I think WV is in the best position.
Tech has a lot returning but Matt Wells is not the Messiah they are waiting for in Lubbock.
Les Miles has the pedigree but he may not have the players yet.

But you can view any situation anyway you want.
Just think it will take Neal Brown maybe a few years to get WV where they were this year.

Innovation..
Yet to see that yet with the new staff.

Want someone to say....What if we had a Sam Ehlinger type QB but put another 6-2 or 6-3 230 pound on the field that can throw.
Like two Tim Tebows or Sam Ehlinger.

Dana had a little innovation.
He was using Will Grier to fake a pass to the flat like a playaction to get the safties to react and if they did Grier would launch in over their head to Simms or Sills.

Pretty much a playaction pass off a pass.

I'm not talking about the effectiveness of the coaches, necessarily. I just mean, the entire staff is like one working body. They are all a little different, but they all function in the same wavelength as Brown. They're all very much like him, with just slightly different personalities that fit the type of room they're coaching.

Dana's staff was always just a hodgepodge of good coaches. Caponi was not like Belk. Blackwell was not like Spav. All good coaches in their own right, but they were very different.

It's not an accident that all of the new coaches say the same thing in every single interview. "We coach people, then players." or some variation of that. They all bring the same attitude. That's new.

There is some truth in this if you listen to a great coach like Haden Fry.

Bringing in an assistant, from the assistant of Haden Fry is not a bad idea.
K State had a lot of uniformity in their football program the last 30 years.

Main reason why they kept this guy on their new staff.

Just wonder if Neal Brown has a little bit more Hal Mumme and Mike Leach in him than Dana...

When Hal Mumme got the job at Copperas Cove HS he watched BYU practices.
What he took from it was not just the offense but how they practice to perfection.

A lot like a Japanese baseball player.
Hal Mumme was a perfectionist.

Hopefully Neal Brown took that from Hal Mumme.

IMHO..This coach was a WAAAAAAAAAY over the top K-State homer !! He had NO intemtioin of EVER leaving Kansas EVER.... PERIOD. And yet Neal swooped in and snatched him up before the wildcats, knew what had hit them in the mouth!! This a huge _H_U_G_E steal from a conference foe !! I truly hope that he is worth his weight in salt. And being a badass recruiter doesn't hurt one iotta! :eer::letsgo::tada::tada::tada:

They retained him and Colin Klein.
But their original DC left and they brought one in from Wyoming that is familiar with what they are trying to do.
Seiler was slated to be the DLine coach

I don't have an insider account on KState so I dont know what they are saying behind the paywall.

Best place to get K State info is GoEMAW.com

Goemaw is more of a troll board like SurlyHorns
