Any word on how mama Tunsil is recovering from the beating that her son put on her husband?

Seems like an odd post from an OM fan site that usually falls in line hook-line-and-sinker.

I don't doubt that. But let's be honest, OM controls almost all of the info those guys put out.

Why would you put out a statement basically saying "we're not in control of this.."?

The Clarion-Ledger reported Friday that Lindsey Miller, the stepfather of Ole Miss offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil, met with NCAA enforcement official Chris Howard in Oxford. That story came on the heels of Miller telling the C-L he was aware of violations during Tunsil's recruiting, including academic impropriety and gifts made by the university.

Today, Ole Miss athletics director Ross Bjork told me Howard was not in Oxford but the meeting reported by the Clarion-Ledger did occur. Bjork did not say where the meeting was held, but he said Ole Miss was told of the meeting "but not allowed to participate."

More as we get it...

Getting the flock ready for the shearing that is coming! I believe "it" may actually be arriving.

Seems like the direct opposite to me. The only way I would make that statement if I'm Bjork is if I knew the investigation wasn't going anywhere.

What's the burden of proof for the NCAA? Didn't the NCAA request financial documents from Sidney and declared Sidney ineligible once he didn't turn them over? (Think I remember that right). So isn't it sort of up to the player to prove they're innocent more than the NCAA's burden to prove the player is guilty?

The real news here is that Tunsil is apparently going to sign a BILLION dollar contract. That seems like a lot, even for the anchor of the greatest recruiting class in history.

How does he know Freeze has his best UMiss team yet "by far"? That whole update just reads like something written by someone on the Spirit. It's just full of "I told you so" and red herrings to help calm the masses.

The NCAA operates in the court of public opinion. Usually, the cover-up is worse than the infraction. The more and more things come out about this, the more I believe the consequences multiply. Something's gonna happen.

I like how they're all trying to tear down miller

Yeah he might be some lowlife, I have no idea. But if I were him I'd be really 17n pissed. First my step son beats my ***, then every college football fan in the world with the sports center app get a text saying I was attempting to beat my wife, then I get to watch it on the bottom line for 48 hours. All of that talk was seemingky instigated by freeze doing his best to sweep this under the rug. Somehow making a few bucks by selling pictures to tmz makes you lose all credibility...again assuming no one else leaked those pictures for him.

I think if be having my attorney draw up a defamation suit, maybe that's where the facts will really be brought to light here.

The only thing I hope is that they find out that a coach on the team was involved. That would be similar to Will Redmond's situation (Will didn't have academic impropriety though).... Which would be a significant, college-career ending infraction.

improper benefits? Academic impropriety? Covered it up? All of those would warrant a smaller penalty. If they find that the coaching staff was involved in this, then the next time we see Tunsil play will be on Sundays.

How convenient,

The update just happened to skip the pieces of the story that dealt with academic grade fixing and pay for play issues.

F*** them, burn the place to the ground.

The NCAA don't have to have proof to do anything. Proof make it easier.

It appears that Freeze really screwed this deal up or it would have already been

handled behind the scenes with Miller. Throwing Miller under the bus may not have been the best approach.

That's some ******** sheepspeak. It's the same team as last year, minus a QB and a few impact players on defense. They'll be lucky to repeat what they did last year, even with Tunsil.

This thread is 27 deep and yet there's no post from HD reminding us that nothing is going to happen. Should I take anything from that? Or are we still hedging?

Oh I didn't want to be repetitive. But I agree that Bjork wouldn't say anything if he thought things weren't going to work out. Nothing's coming of this.

so many of these NCAA cases sputter out because the NCAA has no subpoena power

well, all of the sudden OM has one very pissed off individual that seems like he has one hell of a slander case against Hugh Freeze (or whoever told him to release that BS statement to the media). that gets hashed out in civil court.

just don't see this one going away as easy as some think.

The coverup is always worse than the crime. Ole Miss is nervous because they went on record in Indianapolis about Tunsil's recruitment. Now the NCAA has a parent spilling the beans outside of their sphere of influence.

This is where the NCAA will nail your *** to the wall. Lies in testimony will result in stiff penalties and situations like the one Bruce Pearl found himself in. They better hope they didn't overreach in what they said last year.

This...

But if the UM administration starts (metaphorically) grabbing their collective crotch, at the NCAA during this investigation, then they will get the USC love. They surely aren't that stupid. They will have a façade of cooperation, while "lawyering up" where necessary. If they have to cut bait with Tunsil, to keep things moving, they will.

Of course, this is assuming no new information gets TMZ'd.

They should be more worried that Freeze's offense got figured out by everyone this side of Geoff Collins.

The lack of recent quotes from Miller speaks volumes. He got his and Tunsil won't miss a snap this year.

How could Bjork know how this is going to turn out? The NCAA doesn't exactly tell the schools its investigating what's going on or where the investigation is heading.

That's very possible

but I would also imagine that the first words out of the NCAA's mouth when they sat down were something along the lines of... "From this point forward, you speak to us and your lawyer. That's it. No newspapers, websites, TMZ, blah blah blah". Not that they'd have any power to enforce that, but an investigation is going to be extremely difficult to carry on while you have key witnesses flapping their gums to the media every chance they get. It stands to reason that they'd at least try to keep things locked up.

Rest assured that I also don't think that anything is going to come from this aside from maybe a 2-3 game suspension for Tunsil, but I'm not reading much into Miller suddenly going quiet

So you think he has no idea which way this is going to go? Come on. His compliance people, and more importantly, his money people are telling him what's happening.

Well his compliance people must be inept then, because Riley Blevins just tweeted that "the meeting did not take place in Memphis. That's false".
