From a pastor's perspective

I was on vacation recently down south and visited several churches and thought "I would stink if I took a job here as a pastor. The pay would be much higher, but it's too formal for me. I would be a terrible fit here." It's important to realize those types of things. I am really seeing fruit where God has placed me, but put me in one of these other churches, and I would probably be fired within 2 years.

That's exactly the type of problem with Joe. To play in the SEC, the team has to have a toughness about it, and especially Mississippi State has to develop a physical and mental toughness. One can really say it's in our DNA. Some coaches are good at that and others aren't. However, as an AD, Coehen should know the DNA of the university and see that our coach just doesn't have what it takes to be successful here (what he displayed as baseball coach much of the time). Nothing personal against Joe, but it's not a good fit. It's not so much about wins and losses, but as Brandon Walker put it tonight, it's about getting embarrassed, and like other times, we got embarassed.

One more thing, within a church or organization, the last thing you want to do is make the supporters mad unless you absolutely have to. Joe will only dig himself further into a hole by snide remarks which will only result on less money people will spend.

BTW, I was on the fire Moorhead train pretty early. If I can afford it, I will gladly buy some meals for those on here who support Joe (except for Rupert) if Joe turns out to be a success, but I don't see it happening.

Cohen, if you read the Pack (and you should; it's really the core mindset of State fans, not as crazy as Elite Dawgs, but not a looser type of mentality like others), it's time to fire the guy.

MEMO TO JOHN COHEN: When you've lost the support of the preacher, it's time to do something about it.

I agree 100%. MSU will never be successful being a dink and dunk type of team. Our "DNA" as you so eloquently stated is our toughness, our physicality. It's who we are. I'm not saying we need to go back to the wishbone, but we are getting out-toughed in a big boy conference. We've passed the tipping point.

When Drebin said last night Mullen would have had Key in there running read options all over the field and pushing UL around, it really hit home how bad of a coach Jomo is. Not that we didn't already know that, but to really think what a good coach would have done with this team and also like what Preacher said: it's about getting embarrassed multiple times this year including last night. 8 games lost now in 2 years when favored in a ball game? How does that even happen?

It’s Cohen’s fault. He went out looking for this type of offense, thinking it was the missing piece between us taking the next step. I’m ok with the thinking, but he did it the wrong way.

The BIGGEST piece was the recruiting. We simply needed a guy who runs a run based offense but recruits slightly better than Mullen. We had the momentum with QBs and all that, so that’s essentially what we trade out for Mullen.

The guy was Hud and still is.

It's so much more than the offensive scheme. If you can't preach accountability in your program and hold everyone in the program to be accountable for EVERY 17'N ACTION, you're not going to be successful especially not in the SEC.

The reason Joe has lost 8 games as a favorite is because he's out coached on a regular basis. Unless there's a decisive talent advantage, we lose the game. He was out coached by Napier in a bad way and he's at a P5 school. Hell, he was out coached by Jeremy 17'n Pruitt.

i thought that last night also. louisiville was the one that was being creative in the run game and pushing us around the field and running all around us and through us. we really need a coach like that who can be creative with finding ways to run the ball with scheme and formation. Satterfield. Malzahn, Mullen, Napier. all good at doing that type of thing. They scheme to run the ball.

Let’s also not forget that it’s embarrassment both on AND off the field. Tutorgate, Joe’s post game tirade, and the practice fight were all complete embarrassments to the program that had nothing to do with calling a play

I do not think Joe has the respect of his players.

Seeing Satterfield constantly talking to his players and other coaches giving instructions just makes me sad when our coach never talks to anyone unless they're on the headset and then he stares at his play sheet. He doesn't coach. He doesn't know how.

Just watching Kentucky play KNOWING they cannot throw the football and seeing them be competitive amazes me how bad Moorhead is. A good football coach gets production with the pieces he has.
