“I would say for sure they’ve made me feel like a priority,” he told the Journal Star recently. “They’re texting me all the time and they were coming up to see me just about every week (this winter).”

Hutmacher is also expected to take official visits to Wisconsin (in early June, and Oregon.

This visit will be Hutmacher’s first to campus since Tony Tuioti replaced Mike Dawson as Nebraska’s defensive line coach. Hutmacher told the Journal Star shortly after Dawson left NU for a job with the New York Giants that he would miss Dawson, but the departure didn’t affect his interest level in the Huskers.

The Huskers just received a verbal commitment from four-star wide receiver Zavier Betts (Omaha) on Wednesday and have hosted several other talented players over the course of the spring. They are set to have four-star defensive tackle Jamar Sekona (Greenbrae, California), four-star offensive tackle Turner Corcoran (Lawrence, Kansas), verbally committed quarterback Logan Smothers (Athens, Alabama) and many other players on campus for the spring game. Then the staff will spend most of May on the road visiting schools and evaluating players. In other words, it’s going to be an active couple of months.

There are a lot of heavy-hitters pushing hard to eventually land Omaha (Neb.) Burke three-star wide receiver Xavier Watts. The 6-1, 170-pounder has terrific speed and the junior film to back it up. There is a reason so many top programs are coming after him.

Watts isn’t ready to make a commitment at this time. However, he’s getting a little bit closer. This next few weeks could play a big role in his recruitment, as he looks to separate a few schools from the rest. Watts says that he has four visits lined up and shared quick-hitter about each program.

Watts will be at Wisconsin on Apr. 6.

“They usually have a good football team and I like how I could fit in for my position.”

He’ll head to Notre Dame on Apr. 10.

“It’s a good school with good traction and education, plus it has good football.”

Watts will then head to Nebraska on Apr. 13.

“I like they’re fast-paced offense and how everything works there.”

Finally, Watts will wrap things up at Michigan on Apr. 20.

If I had 10 million tied up in coaches and 200 million in the program I would probably make sure they had the same color khakis and the same shirt for the photo shoot. Probably just a GA or somebody doing the marketing but in a hyper competitive business things need to be slick. This would bother me even if it was a HS production.

Good point. I bet we lose recruits over this.

I get what you're saying about the professional look of the poster. It seems to be Photoshopped from a disparate group of photos taken of the coaches, rather than an actual group shot. It looks sloppy to have people wearing different pants, shirts, with some tucked in, some loose, etc. just haphazardly thrown together.

However, for those who are critical of the coaching staff and/or athletic department because of this, be aware that the coaching clinics and/or summer camps are not actually a part of the University. They are an independent entity that happens to employ the coaches and use the facilities. Back in the early 2000's I used to provide some IT support for the registration process. It says right at the bottom of the page:

"The operator of this/these camp(s), BRFS, LLC, is a separate legal entity from the University of Nebraska, and it is not sponsored by or affiliated with the University of Nebraska."
