rumors are UK was not able to presently match Alabama's offer due to Stokes portion of the budget still be accounted for. I have no idea, but Pope needs to weigh the benefit of Stokes holding us hostage.

If so, that's a fireable offense. Yes, Stokes is great but he's holding the program hostage. Either you want to be here or you don't.

I hope this isn't true bc it will not work in our favor. You could always find more money for Stokes but you don't drag your feet trying to land a player of Freeman's caliber.

Not much evidence Pope can land this kid if its down to us and Bama but I really hope I'm wrong. Freeman is a stud at a position of need.
I really think you have to prioritize Freeman, Stokes, Zoom/Wright and a great SG. Yup, all 4 of those positions.
Freeman, Stokes, top SG and either of those 2 pg's puts UK into FF threat territory. Gotta spend the money, if not, you're not a threat.

How do we not have enough money? We lost our 7 highest paid players and have one recruit who is ranked 140th.
So my prediction is that he will pick Alabama and we find out that UK offered more money but Freeman chose an open offense and less money. (Looking for coaching that gets him to the NBA) Pope can only buy him a ticket to a NBA game.
Bama with reportedly more money and a fluid offense where you don't have to play a ton of defense?

Kentucky with reportedly less money and a WTF hero ball offense where you get pulled when you heat up?

Pope put together a very good roster in 2 weeks when he was hired.
Butler and Carr injuries impacted that season.
Last season, Pope put together a roster that didnāt work. Iām sure behind closed doors he would even admit it was not good. I think thatās why we are seeing most leave. We can complain about this coaching, I know I have done lots and still seriously question if he is right for this jobā¦but he is getting this 3rd year. And I will hold judgement until it all shakes out. There are guys we know he is after, and I am sure there is a handful of guys he is deep talks with that we donāt know about.
And then there is Stokes. He is the X factor. I donāt have any inside info, I just have to believe Pope knows he is the keyā¦and is going all out to get him. Until Stokes says otherwise, I am holding out hope.

Either would be legit but Freeman is built for the SEC better IMHO. Blue chip recruit and he panned out.

Diallo instead of Wright is acceptable, but Freeman is non-negotiable in my opinion!
Go visit a Alabama football message board during football season or now for that matter and see if it doesnāt resemble this placeā¦ the great ones expect greatness and donāt settle for anything less
When Alabama is willing to out pay Kentucky for a basketball player, we are in trouble. If true these things cannot happen if we expect to be Kentucky, sliding into mediocrity in a sport we ruled is unacceptable.
Popes gotta do better recruiting. Picking a football school over us is unacceptable and happens way too often to him. If he expects to make it here as a coach heās gotta improve recruiting
