The biggest issue with this one is Rancik. I've muted a lot of my criticism so far with the recruiting but when you get played by an agent for more money and had a guy who was a perfect fit that you passed on. I'm sorry I can't defend that one. I guess you have to go overseas now and see if you can find someone in Europe. I don't blame UK for not getting in a bidding war for Freeman, he's not good enough. You can't overpay but passing on Rancik was just stupid.

I couldn't care less if Freeman comes here or not. There are guys out there, Stokes, Momcilovic, Graves, Muurinen that could be huge moves and he has the funds available to go get two of them and still find solid depth guys like McBride. Bottom line is he better pull out every stop he knows because he is up **** creek unless he adds a couple of Dudes to this roster
Thing is he’s not getting those guys. Freeman entered the portal to come here. He had the best offer by far. We thought he was signing Thursday, he still didn’t and now his agent got him an even better deal we won’t match. He can’t play in the deep end of college ball. He’s not the guy.

While it was probably no one's choice the decision was made to hire a coach who had never won a tournament game and who's highest ranked recruit was Collin Chandler.

To think there would not be some real bumps along the road and a likely steep learning curve is situationally absurd.

Through that lens the first season was an A and last a D due to regression. A third year is the minimum. There is little choice but to at least let that play out.

We will have to be a bit more patient with coaches now, being Kentucky or Kansas or North Carolina is no longer the advantage it used to be and we will probably have to jewel guys up some and we will struggle mightily to get anyone if they think if they don't have a final four in the first two years that they will be on the scra0heap and largely done in the profession.
I completely understand the bumps in the road. However, the guy should have NEVER been hired in the first place.

Right, but who are these people saying those guys were 100% to UK?

Anyone that said Rob Wright was 100% to UK, was a liar. That kid was only leaving BYU if someone paid him too much money to stay. Pope did the right thing by not overpaying.
Here is your 100% crystal ball prediction to UK for Wright the story which was basically from a BYU site.

Here is a little piece of the article and the whole article is at the bottom.

In the past week, Mark Pope's team was building incredible momentum to snatch the All-Big 12 guard through the portal. With a 100% crystal ball projection to land in Lexington, Wright's destination was practically a foregone conclusion.

The Rob Wright saga takes a turn, point guard favoring a return to BYU basketball

So once again 2 players this cycle that Pope has missed on that was projected at 100% to land at UK. POPE NEEDS FIRED!

But nobody knows anything. UK offered him the same mount he's getting at BYU, kid was looking for a much bigger payday.
