This doesn't bother me. I never liked adding this guy. He was good for maybe 10 games. That foot stuff would have been a constant source of problems. Maybe I'm wrong and I'll regret not getting him. But I don't think so.
What I really don't like is that we wasted so much time on him. Time is something Pope is running out of
I’m 50/50 on it, but, mostly agree. I never understood why Freeman is who he decided to go all in on. He’s another bad fit for Pope’s offense & doesn’t seem like he’d mesh well with Diallo, Wilkins & potentially (unlikely) Stokes. All those guys dominate the ball in their own way & Freeman doesn’t provide the spacing that is required from a 4 in this system. Plus, I really don’t want to go thru another injury riddled season.

It could work if Freeman was surrounded by shooters. But, that’s not the case. Spacing would be a nightmare & that is another vital part of the offense. I’m only disappointed in missing on Freeman bc it’s too late to find an adequate replacement. But, like others have said, I’d do everything humanly possible to lure Momcilovic, Murrinen or Graves.

And, FTR, this isn’t cope, lol. I’ve been frustrated with Pope all year & don’t care if he’s fired tomorrow. And, I’ve been complaining all week about the poor fits Pope keeps targeting. Idk what he’s thinking targeting so many below average shooters & ball dominant players when they are the polar opposites of the types of players who would excel in the zoom action. I was never high on Freeman coming here until he was basically our last hope for a potential big impact 4. And, even then, I didn’t LIKE it.

CMP seriously might not make it out of the summer alive at this rate. Fans are going to chew him up and spit him out. I get that $5 million/year is a lot of money, but it’s not worth your sanity.
Yeah he could have a miserable year if things go off the rails again.

Here is what I don't get.....

How is St Johns able to outbid UK?

1. I get UK has football as well as basketball to share NIL......but SEC payout is huge compared to BIg East payout per school.

-SEC is around $72m per school
- Big East is around $7M per school.
- ACC schools is around $45M per school

How are we being out bid in any universe by Big East....even ACC schools

2. Football team feels like they're recruiting isn't a problem....

So, none of this makes sense

It's not being "outbid" as much as we have evaluated and given what our top dollar is for a player of Freeman's quality and injury issues. If someone else feels he is worth more, they can have him. I'm not going to overpay for a vehicle or house just because someone else thinks it's worth more. Neither should UK.

We don't even know if he passed a physical, because the university can't release that info.

If there was a more talented pf to pivot to, I would be very happy about this. I was not excited at all about rolling the dice on a big guy that has foot problems.
I would be willing to bet Freeman misses several games next season, so this isn't a bad thing.
What good does the more talented player do when he's sitting on the bench in a boot?

To be remotely competitive you need a combination of at least 3 of these players for starters. Everything else are bench pieces.

SG - Blackwell (Won't Happen), McNeil, Able
SF - Harris ( Won't Happen), NOT much left after him
PF - Milan Momcilovic, Allen Graves, Paulius Murauskas, Freeman - NOTHING left after these

That would take a coach that isn't a desperate hack. Agents know Pope is soft, desperate and tries to see the positive in everything. He allow Kentucky to get strung along for maximum extortion.

Any coach with a pair and conviction would tell a scummy agent like Donnie's to eat **** and then move on to another player in waiting (Pope failed this by allowing someone ready to commit go off to sign elsewhere).

That makes sense, kinda on the same line of thinking. Was kinda alarming that other schools were so quick to pivot from him and his camp, makes a lot of sense now.
Meanwhile we let Rancik go and put the success of next year’s team on the line for Freeman.

I don’t spin anything. If I post I stand by it, but I know you are the same poster under one of your 100s of usernames so it’s not even worth the time typing. I’ve never hidden from something I said, I own it and always will. We will see what happens.
This dude seems to have a hard on for you 🤣🤣

This takes me back to the Tubby days. Hand wringing over Donnie frickin Freeman. Pull the offer. If Pope thinks UK is such a historic program, and it is, start acting like it. Go make Graves or Murauskus or Muurinen an offer they can’t refuse. Get this stuff done and stop playing patty cake with mid players.

Pope needs to quit now turn in your resignation. Send a contingent to go hire pitino right now this isn’t brain surgery. Should’ve hired him in 2007 should’ve hired him instead of pope.. and should hire him right now guys greatest of all time. Maybe us five years. Give him a 10 year deal. Shear stupidity on the part of the UK brass for a long time I mean the greatest basketball coach of all time has pined to coach at Kentucky and we’ve had the chance to hire him over and over, but because Mitchell Barnhart has the ego the size of Texas. We deserve to suck.
He just might have a bigger pool of money than Pope or any UK coach. They have to give no money to football.
