I’m going to go ahead and state my controversial opinion that Momcilovic isn’t the program savior level player some people are starting to wishcast him as.

He’s basically a rich man’s Koby Brea. Incredible three point percentage on a super high volume, but that’s pretty much all he does. He can’t attack the basket very well even against aggressive close outs because he’s slow and doesn’t have a great handle and isn’t a particularly creative passer either, although he at least isn’t turnover prone. He also doesn’t rebound much for his size, and although Iowa State hid him really effectively with their system and surrounding cast, scouts aren’t high on his defense. He’s a good player who would definitely make our offense better with his shooting, but he’s not really the type of guy who can take over a game on his own. Even if we could get him, it’s not going to put us in contention for much if we can’t surround him with a better team than what we’re heading towards.
You’re right, but with a couple great players who can take away the double teams he would have, he could be the guy to put you over the top. Would needs Stokes with him to get to the basket and his passing ability. Another shooter who would keep them honest on defense, 34% plus would be great to go with him. Kam could be nice with a player like him who gives more space. Not that I’m even remotely thinking we get him. 😝. Just thinking out loud. Nice thought though.

We need players somewhere and he’s better than what’s out there.

OMG people please shut up about Rancik! He's not even a top 100 player he doesn't make us anywhere near a title contender, what is happening???
Matt jones and the KSR guys are in a tough spot. It’s gonna be a tough sell for them to attempt to spin some positivity out of all of this. Some will buy it, but most won’t.

It’s just more evidence he’s in over his head at UK, the whole NIL has been a mess with him cause he seems to still want to control everything and do it all. The one good thing he did was bring Mo on at least and seems to have helped in some areas but Barnhardt is the biggest issue. And I’m sure Davis will be the new AD and I’d be shocked if let pope go after next year, it’s going to take a Mike Pratt former player to rally the right squad to fix this. Also, what’s stokes sitting there thinking when he sees what freeman said?? I just can’t see him coming here unless Nike really pushes him & why would they?? They have other schools more successful and just plain better to send players to, thanks Mitch for 2 smh type hires for the flagship program at the university……or atleast it used to be.

Listen to this:

This is what this desperately foolish fanbase, coaching staff and admin should listen to, with open ears. It nails it. Not targeted, no sense of how to approach the right recruits - utter mess. And the wackadoos here lick their lips for all of it.

Was in the marathon Rob Wright thread. Not my fault you have CTE or are some stupid old man.
By a legitimate source. Not my fault you're an ignorant dumb loser who pretends to be a fan and expects.us to believe everything he posts with no actual sources.

But this proves the problem with Pope's inability to close perfectly. See how Kentucky was "leading" and expected to land Freeman, as Kentucky HAD the highest offer and the only real school in it? But the second St. Johns offer's him a higher amount he's committed publicly within 24 hours? Even when players who Kentucky leads for days or weeks, the second they trend to a new school they commit with ease.

LOL these kids don't give a damn about the coach most of the time, it's all about the cash. St. Johns wasn't even on the list until they came in with a big bag at the last minute.

The Sleepers analysts have snuffed out this fraud coaching staff in every video about a Kentucky recruit.

Freeman isn't even that good, and we couldn't close it out. That's the frustration. He's got all kinds of warts and still couldn't close.

That's kind of the point. He wasn't good enough for us to break the bank for him. Why is that hard to understand?

I never thought he'd sign with UK from day one.

I expected it to be Alabama, but even Alabama said no thanks to what he was asking for... Why would or should we offer a ton to a kid that doesn't want to be here and isn't trustworthy? We don't even know if he'll be able to or willing to play.

Does it really matter?

We were NOT a well-coached team last season. Injuries or not, we looked lost more often than not against better teams. Yes, we got the sht beat out of us without the benefit of a fair whistle. No question. We still didn't adjust properly to our opponents. It was Cal ball without the star ratings.

Why do we care if we got or didnt get an OK PF from a bad Syracuse team?

I’m with you, Freeman isn’t an issue in a vacuum. He’s not really that good. The issue is the cumulation of issues surrounding recruiting. We could have had Rancik sign on the dotted line. I don’t think he’s much worse than Freeman and probably is actually better offensively. A better fit, for cheaper and saved resources for another player. It’s just that the got played by an agent and this continues to be an issue. Get close to the finish line, the guy wants an extra half a million to close and we walk. We have wasted valuable time, energy, and a potential starting 4 in Rancik pursuing someone who wasn’t even that good in the first place. We have no high school recruits coming in, albeit one because we hired his dad. On top of that we are supposed to have “Scrooge Mcduck” money and yet we are consistently getting outbid at the end of the day. I think the JMI issue is real. There might be more money but the conditions and stipulations are so much that it’s just easier for players to go what is the simplest decision. There are few outside deals allowed, agents get cuts of those deals if they can make them so that means even more money for them. It’s just too unwieldy. It was created to allow UK to operate fairly in a system where there was congressional action. That action never came and now UK has their hands tied behind their backs trying to play fair in the Wild West. It was incredibly naive and no self respecting coach is going to walk into that situation if we run Pope off. I’m not saying he won’t deserve it but this is the most precarious I’ve ever seen UK basketball and so much of it is self inflicted.

It was between Kentucky and UConn with Kentucky leading.
It was between Kentucky and Bama with Kentucky leading.
Tennessee entered the chat but Kentucky still leading.
He signs with St. John's.

LMFAO

I had no interest in signing this goof but imagine how big of a chump you have to be to get played like this. You're flying kids into town and wining and dining them so they can take your offer and shop it aroundto every program in D1 college basketball. Literally lighting the money on fire would be more effective than what they're doing.

Pitino stabbing his player, who he’s called “like a son”, in the back.

Honestly, St John’s has deep pockets for NIL. Mike Repole is a billionaire, who will spare no expense to see that St John’s wins a title. We currently have nothing like him.

I worked in the industry for 15 years. Take any public comment made by these egomaniacs with a grain of salt. They’d bulldoze their actual biological children if it meant gaining an advantage. Most self-absorbed humans on the planet outside Washington D.C.

Jeffie loves Markie!

And a few other members of the dwindling Popes Dopes and Popette crusaders still fighting the good fight.
WTF? Because I have been saying Freeman is injury prone??? Weird.
I was saying Pope should move on from Freeman a week ago. Don't spend big money on a big guy with chronic foot problems.

I disagree.
The second that kid gets hurt, this place would be on fire. All the dudes saying Pope had to have Freeman, would be pissed off because Pope brought in a guy that was injury prone. You know what I'm saying is dead on.
Pope needs to find someone else.
Who is going to man the 4? Some dude ranked 900th?
