I hear the Hickory High quarterback is currently going to school at Freedom. This gives Freedom two dynamic athletes in the backfield. Both have great running skills. I am not aware of what returns on the offensive line but this surely makes the Patriots an explosive offensive team. Is there enough carries for each? I would think this would be a perfect time to run the option.

Correct, QB Crawford is at Freedom. The O-line will lose Malik Drury to graduation
(going toTusculum) but most everyone else returns. The O line should be ok this
year - not great. But as one coach said last year... all Emmons needs is a second
and he will do the rest. Crawford will add to the running game and I agree
that option would work great.

A QB,that is good news! I felt that was one of the big pieces of the puzzle that was missing all last year. On offense Freedom is looking scary. How is that "Freak Nasty" Defense looking?

Ironically the QB and Receiver that scorched our defense have committed
to Tusculum - the same place LB Izzy Davis and OL Malik Drury are going.

Hickory loses both their best offensive player to Freedom and best defensive player in Landon Dickerson to South Caldwell in the middle of the season. Dickerson at 6'5" and 265lbs will be a force at South Caldwell. Although very young for his grade he is getting some serious schools looking at him. The addition of the big guy to South Caldwell will make that defense even tougher to run against.

If the game plan is a to hand off or pitch to Emmons on most plays I don't see how Crawford benefits from going to Freedom. This is why I would see the option as a big plus for the Patriots. Both have a great set of wheels. I never thought of Crawford as a passer. Designed pass plays ended up being a QB run up the middle many times. Can't wait to see how it all evolves.

No worries of Coach Allen throwing the football, so option would be the best way to
get Crawford in the game on offense. I think they should consider playing him in
the secondary as well. The best DB from last year (Rodney Thompson) graduates.
Overall on defense we lose a lot. Three very good lineman, two very good linebackers
and DB Thompson, not to mention Josh Ray that contributed and a reserve LB that
transferred to Patton. Overall I think we have some gaps to fill and are open to
any big time players that would like to transfer to Freedom!

Freedom is moving in the right direction. You gotta long way to being as good as Crest recruiting but keep trying.

Hope Coach Allen has thick skin. Fence hangers can be brutal from here.

Oh you mean recruiting Beam? If that is the discussion then no. Man you really are trying to be the next Crest.

On a serious note, how are the Red Devils looking for 2015? I know the QB is
back and considering how Beam likes to pass should lead the Unifour area.
How many did N-Conover have to sign/commit from last years team?

Why did he leave Hickory GDG?

Only his relatives and he can answer that. But its a clear inside the building and outside the school were not going well. Hopefully a change of venue will signal a change for the better. All I can say is as a parent I would not put my kid in the same environment with anyone I got in trouble with. But those are the decisions one must make.

Offensively he was featured at Hickory. Don't know if that will be the case with Emmons at Freedom. But it should be interesting to see how it all works out.

I'm not sure what to expect from Newton this year. it could go either way. They will not have the size they had the past three years but that size never materialized. Newton's JV team was not good at all. Honestly I think given who we play it is going to be a challenge.

I look down the list of teams in the conference with returning rosters and see some teams that will be as good as before. I also see teams who will be much improved. West Caldwell, Maiden, and Bandys should improve. East Lincoln and Lincolnton- clearly the top tier of the SD7. The non-conference schedule is going to be tough. Asheville on the schedule looks interesting.

Maybe we will lead the Unifour in passing. I know we led that category in interceptions as well. Lets hope we can get passes off because we will need an epic effort from the line. The QB is a pocket passer. Rolling out is not his game. There will be no 6'4" wide receivers in this lineup this year so how the ball is delivered will be different.

Offhand I remember the following signees: Elon, Tusculum, Winston-Salem State, and Greensboro College. I must congratulate Beam on seeking opportunities for his kids. Definitely it signals a commitment to reward players who help make a coach successful.

This is Great! Always nice to see these young men go on to college
and get an education. Freedom has 3 that have committed and several
others still deciding between schools/offers. Hopefully about 3 to 4 more.

LB Izzy Davis - Tusculum
OL Malik Drury - Tusculum
QB Titus Smith - UNC Pembroke

GDG -

Looks like you guys have a tough schedule. One thing about it,
N-Conover doesn't mind a tough non-conf schedule. Gotta respect
that. I'm sure Beam and staff will be ready come August.

Pats,

Hickory is also on the schedule as usual. We are a gold mine for their athletic funds as we usually have double the fans their home side has. Unless someone gets upset about something we will continue to play Hickory. I have yet to see a completed schedule for Newton and have no idea if Freedom is still on the schedule. I hope so but we would most likely not do well defensively.

The former AD scheduled Lexington two years and they were a cupcake. Brought 23 fans to the game. That's one half fan for each player. Real money maker that was. Yes sir indeed. I have pictures of the visitor side and it was laughable.

Had two more sign to play football- Ferrum and Guildford. That's six or seven so far.

Freedom dropped us this year. We offered them a 4 year home and home and they said no thanks. I'm not sure why. Its been a good series with both sides bringing a good fan base. They replaced us with Shelby.

Freedom was a good gate for us and we travel in really big numbers. Anybody who schedules Newton will make a chunk of change for sure. Lawndale is not that far. I would like to see us add Burns to the schedule in some sports. Shelby is always on the schedule with some sports such as tennis and soccer. I think this is because they have high ranked teams each year like Newton. Too soon for football and I understand it would not be in Beams best interest to come play Burns considering his close relationship with the community.

I think Freedom is pretty much obligated by the admin to play East Burke and Draughn every year. Adding Shelby is a big game.

We play plenty of Newton Conover's already. No need to play another one.

LD, they dropped you and added Shelby because they want to get better. They play a lot of Burns already. See Draughn and East Burke for your example.

Rulz you insulted five teams in one post. Congrats. Lawndog and Pats that venom is usually reserved for Shelby. Rulz you know the only reason you don't like Shelby is someone plucked your sisters chest hair and made a weave for a Shelby cheerleader. Keep it up and Kim Kardashian is going to get extensions from the legs.

Rulz knows what it is like to be beat down by the Patriots. We have brought Crest
down to earth several times.... right RulZ? We have beat Crest without recruiting
one player

Burns beat Freedom more times than not and I think any Freedom fan was worried last year at RGS.

GDG - would love to see a Burns and Newton game or even a scrimmage would be fun.

Lawndog, we have split the last four games with Burns (2-2).

Always a fun time playing Burns. And yes, we were a little concerned

in last years game. One of several games that our HC seemed to be

over his head. I'm sure in a few years we will pick Burns back up.

Its All good GDG. I would expect nothing less from Rulz.... The put downs stop with more wins on the field and I expect the Dogs to get more of them this year, Lord willing. I used to get pretty worked up on here but not anymore. This is just a high school football message board...right ...lol....

So you're saying Burns is on the same level as East Burke and Draughn?

As long as Matt is there Newton will never play Burns in the regular season in football, but would love a 7 on 7 or jamboree meeting.

im more of a patton man but typically make my way over to freedom to see better games. burns man I don't think he meant that they are on the same level as draughn and east burke.... but Shelby is consistently better than burns and always will be.
