I made this point for years and will again this year.
Why is it we continue shoot FTs better on the road than home?

My theory is that it’s not the rims but something visual, like maybe too much open space behind the backboard at section 118. Too easy to lose focus.

Another possibility is at home the crowd is silent during our FTs which might be unnerving versus having some steady noise.

Your mention of Rick Barry had me look up the stats; enjoyed watching him back with the NY Nets; and (as mentioned) shot FT's underhand. Stats say #1 all time in ABA top 5 in NBA. Calvin Murphy (younger crowd should look him up) 5'9'' and fast as anybody is top 10 FT's all time. Wilt tried everything - but not sure underhanded helped him. Also remember Hal Greer (with 76ers) actually jumped when he shot FT's. Hopefully somebody else remembers same; the stats show him shooting 80%. But these days, I'll take that.

Wilt's underhand foul shooting was always awful ?

Over exert your guys on the defensive end, your gonna get alot of clankers at the line. I give credit to our guys who shot well at the line. Because it's hard to go at a franatic pace -- and then calm down when you get to the line

Yes, Hal Greer jumped. Good memory. I think Malcom Gladwell did a podcast on underhanded foul shooting that was interesting and if I remember correctly Wilt got better that way but went back to the regular method anyway.

Maybe Dylan should start from mid court, dribble up to the foul line and launch a short jumper😃
