Free college tuition & recruiting

I've read a few different articles that think college should be free. My thoughts went to how would they control recruiting? Right now a team gets 85 scholarships to give out and then a team can have a bunch of walk-ons because they have to pay their own way. If kids don't have to pay, there is no scholarship limit to worry about so the Alabama's of the world could try and get 40 5 star kids every year. My thought is they would have to cap teams to a total number of players. Maybe they do max 27/year with Max 100/team?

Free is a misnomer, subsidized is the word. What happens to football is of little concern to those advocating for subsidized college.

If she wins, recruiting and even coaches will be socialized - parity in college football will be at an all time. There will be no night games, as the lights require the combustion of hydrocarbons. The score won’t be kept, as that may offend the players, all games will end in a tie. Everyone will take ride their bikes home with a recycled paper (not plastic) participation trophy.

They will serve vegan runzas and only cheese pizzas at the husker games.

Players want to play, most would rather be the star at Nebraska than 3rd string at Alabama. Why do you think there are so many transfers every year?

Regardless, even if tuition became "free", there would still be limits on active roster size and travel roster size.

This is an ancient ploy by socialists to gain votes.

Offer free stuff so people vote for you.

Then taxes get raised to pay for it.

Pretty soon, you are handed your food ration coupon, your govt housing keys, never mind that you don't like the neighborhood and the sink leaks, and your govt factory job that you must work, or they throw you in prison.

Some people feel that they are an economic slave to the system now, I can tell you, it gets a whole lot worse when you let governments start taking over and making all the decisions for you.

Anyway, people should know, nothing offered for free is ever of value.
