there's been a gradual, nationwide (worldwide) effort to limit free speech on basically all platforms including small ones like this one, basically since Musk freed Twitter. Would speculate they may have had an impetus for doing so. Lotsa people predicted it, too. And now it's happening everywhere - threat of physical punishment, incarceration and fines at a minimum for 'mean tweets' and 'misinformation'. It's been verbalized, OUT LOUD, this week, in national media, multiple times...
BUT, This is a football website, and I get it. Unfortunately it also just happens to be one place where posting can be somewhat anonymous, and not risk being cancelled for opining on stuff that's actually important. So, we're careful not to name names, and I won't ever be the one to start the conversations, but sure as hell will react when prompted.

you're just acquiescing to the State otherwise. Ppl gonna need to be brave when society comes unfolded here in a few weeks. Any way ya cut this, there's gonna be a MAJOR reaction from one side or the other very shortly, and there's no possibility of it being pretty. Will be scary, or worse. Would be nice to have a place to communicate safely with locals.

I have relatives in Germany. Some from former east Germany. I don't want to ever be like Europe. They aren't allowed free speech. West or former east

I agree with you about private business, they get to decide how things work for their business. But it chaps my *** when people use the private business argument when it suits them and then when they disagree with a cake maker in Colorado they say, “he won’t make cakes for LGBTQ+, fúck that guy he should have to close his doors forever”. That’s ********, he’s a private business owner and the government should stay out of his business.
Especially if he's targeted. Go find someone else. Almost all of our bars and restaurants have a sign that says we reserve the right to refuse service to anyone. I know that's a different story but.......

Kids are now in Jail in the UK for putting incontrovertible truths online, Pavel Durov is still In jail in France for REFUSING to censor his site, Household Names are calling for fines and imprisonment right here in the US for verbalising truths that is inconvenient for the Oligarchy, and it all started with Elon.
