I get the McCollum love as the guy wins, but man, his teams are super boring to watch. It’s a very slow paced half court game that emphasizes defense and making the other team guard the whole shot clock. It definitely works for him but its definitely not the most entertaining product
So what if it’s boring to watch. Where we don’t win much I’m guessing 99% of fans wouldn’t care if they boring play lead to 26 wins a seasons

I am guessing that UVA fans liked that style when they were winning 25+ games and getting 1 seeds.

As i said on a previous post Fred should be fired.

UNO men...NCAA bound
Creighton men...NCAA bound
Nebraska Women...NCAA bound
Creighton Women....NCAA bound

Nebraska men...some loser tournament bound.

Yes, it would be absolutely hilarious is UNO wins a game!

The results of the last couple weeks speak for themself. Uninspired...poorly prepared ....terribly coached...how else can the Huskers be described. Should Fred be fired....ABSOLUTELY!
Transfer portal opens in two weeks. Need to move quickly on this. Press conference tomorrow. Decline any post season tournament. Players don’t want it. Tell Fred we will make a statue of he and his grandfather. Worst two coaches in school’s history.

UNO will be a 16 seed, they aren't going to win a game. But good for them for turning it around this year. They started the season 3-7 with losses to Alabama State, Abilene Christian, Southern Utah, and Montana State. They are also lucky that St. Thomas is ineligible for the NCAA Tournament.
If they beat St Thomas tonight it doesn’t matter that they are ineligible. Awful lot of shade you are tossing their way it seems like you have a personal issue with the school. Their best player left in the portal a year ago. They were picked to finish 8th out of 9 teams in their conference. The Dakota schools are no slouches to compete against. I find it impressive what they have done. Yeah it’s unlikely they will win a tourney game but Nebraska has been as high as a 4 seed and has never won.

No, instead of spending $10 million to buy him out, spend $10 million in NIL to bring in some elite talent. No coach is going to win here unless we outspend everyone else on players.
But a good coach could actually run an offense. We have no offense, stand around and turn the ball over. We don't have shooters either.

There's much smaller schools with less nil than Nebraska that have better players.

I think Hoiberg is a great human being but a change needs to be made. Last year gave me hope but now I'm back to a change is needed

Idk. They had a better conference record than St. Thomas. If St. Thomas beats them tonight I might agree. But I think they have a decent coach in Crutchfield who has had some good mentors. I’d kill to see Omaha get a 13 or 14 seed. But we know that won’t happen.

Idk what the hell Hoiberg runs. I watch so much basketball just from gambling on it, and I see a lot of teams run offenses with picks and screens that get kids open for shots. Fred’s kids just throw the ball around the perimeter looking for a shot. It’s frustrating watching Nebraska on offense.

Wouldn’t it be crazy if Omaha won a game in the NCAA’s before Nebraska did?

I hope they do. Let’s dial up the max pressure and hopefully Dannen has the balls to make a move. I’m sick and tired of this ****…

I noticed Gary was the only player at the post game press conference.

Seems like a gutless move if his teammates declined and sent him out there alone. Or if Fred sent him out there alone? Doesn’t sound like a bunch of kids who want to play anymore basketball. Dannen should let Fred coach in the “Crown” and then can him after we get embarrassed in the 1st round.

No way this team wins a game with the current attitude and effort. 0%

I hate to admit it but I said before the game in the kitchen that I wouldn't be devastated if we lost today if that meant a move to turning over the staff. That would be a no loss situation either way. Would like beating iowa but also willing to to swallow the bullet if meant change

I hate going through this idea of firing coaches. Maybe I’m just getting sick of it being a Nebraska fan of the only two sports I give a **** about. But damn. Six years at the helm and you can’t even make your ******* conference tournament? Come on.

This is what I said...if you can't make your conference tourney, you need to be canned.

I do not agree. Sam plays hard, gets a lot of loose balls and rebounds, but most importantly makes up for the mistakes made by other players. He can score, but do I ever think he will be a big scorer? No. I just think he is a great "Glue" player. Does the dirty work for the team.

Dannen is in a tough spot with the extension given to Fred. He will have to ask the people that OKd the extension in the first place for the OK to let fire him now.

Gotta quit giving extensions to coaches who have one good year. Make them earn extensions with multiple years of success. You want a raise? Give me at least three years in a row of results.

The problem is these coaches are in the catbird seat. They have huge buyouts given by stupid ADs and Regents.Fred has 20 million coming. They get the you don’t like what I say or how I say it Fire my *** attitude.

With NIL and the portal there’s really no reason to extend coaches so they can “recruit.” Every year is a new year and everyone needs to be re-recruited and given new NIL deals.

College sports suck right now.

Illinois had 10 new players this year and only 2 returners. 1 redshirted (so he could leave) and one comes off the bench.

They won 20 games and will be in the dance.

Huskers fans LOVE making it harder....it is not.

Michigan had entirely new roster this year.

On different topic:
Read that we ranked 13th in attendance nationally. but finished 16th in the conference. You can not make this crap up. Our fans are just plain stupid.

Neal Hawks has been blasting Hoiberg on Twitter/X
Tell him to write BIGGER NIL checks for basketball or STFU. We’re going to have to pay more and better guards more than anything else if we want win in the B1G. Brice was the only guard on this team who should be a B1G starter.

Yeah, good point too!

Now, Dusty was a new coach (also, they SUCK down the stretch and are not gonna win another game this year and once their commie center is gone, they will be lucky to win 19 games next year) but they still had a really good season

Yep, not one of those boys in the portal last year came back to their home state. I would think big time $ might have gotten them.

stockholm syndrome is alive and well on this board. Don’t worry, the off-season will be here soon and all will be forgotten and we will be world champs again.

In a month, Freddie will be so close to a final 4 team. Anyone that doubts him will be criticized to no end and called a troll or a trader

Pretty terrible. Fred was massively outcoached today.

I have no issues with anyone wanting fred gone. He couldnt get the talent here. We play a lot of bad players. Burke is just awful, morgan not much better, and our 3 point dude sucks. Honestly I think we overacheived this year.

But maybe fred needs to go.

However, I live in realville. We are cursed and will never be good at basketball. I say take the huge buyout money youd have to pay fred to wash rinse repeat and spread it out in NIL for offensive linemen on the football team.

If I'm the AD I ask Fred, no ********, what happened? I then say, you have our support for one more year. Upper 1/3 finish in the Big 10 and win a game in the NCAA tourney. Less than that, DOGE will be at your doorstep.
That rarely works. And Fred would say to a top 1/3 you better open the checkbook for NIL to make that happen.

Well, I was thinking to myself, it’s just the new normal for NU athletics to lag behind the big boys in any sport really, but then you said it: it’s the NIL, dummy! $ is the great equalizer now. Now having said that, maybe we are still a “small market” University and will always be at a disadvantage?…..what do we have to do to get enough $ to compete and offer the biggest carrots?

NIL as it exists today will go away if the House settlement is approved next month. According to the Sports Illustrated article linked below, the Power 4 conferences have agreed to create a separate entity that will serve the following functions:

“First, it will oversee a cap management system, ensuring schools stay within the $20.5 million annual revenue-sharing limit. It will additionally establish an NIL clearinghouse, run by Deloitte, to assess the fair market value of NIL deals and prevent schools from using booster-backed collectives to bypass the cap.

A new investigative and infractions unit will police violations, including tampering and salary cap circumvention. Penalties will include fines, revenue-share reductions, and suspensions for coaches and administrators. The power conferences believe this structure will prevent the chaos and unchecked spending wars that have defined the NIL era thus far.”

So, if the House settlement is approved following a hearing next month, a person could pay NIL money to a player only if the person uses the player’s name, image or likeness, and the amount of the payment could not exceed the fair market value of the name, image or likeness, as determined by the clearinghouse. Collectives and big boosters could not fund “pay-for-play” NIL deals, as they do now. Theoretically, this would make the NIL playing field more level.

This is good stuff, thank you….its about time….now can the organization weed out the cheating and under-the-table deals? Doubtful, but it’s a start—something had to be done. A lot of details to work out but, hopefully, this will benefit all schools and create a more level playing field in college athletics and, of course, dear ol’ Nebraska U.

stockholm syndrome Case study #2

Sounds like your post is the reason we need to fire the leadership and people making these poor financial choices. Not a reason Fred will succeed. Maybe the next time a coach just takes us to the dance, we don’t do a massive extension when he gets smacked in the first game. Maybe the dance should be expected. An extension shouldn’t

NCST just fired their coach that went to the final 4 last year.
Nebraska has been giving extensions to terrible coaches for a long time now. Fred included.

I think he should be fired. He’s done very little in 6 years. You can win at Nebraska (ask Danny Nee about his 90’s Teams). 1991 was a beautiful team - Nee called it Noah’s Ark once -because he had two very good players at every position. And that team also had quite a few players that were not highly recruited - Clifford Scales, Beau Read…and others. I’m not even sure Piatkowski was highly recruited ( or a top 100 guy).

Fred won’t be fired though He will get next year.

NC State just canned Keats, guy went on a lucky run last year to get to the FF and this year, sucked again. The writing was on the wall and NCstate is looking for a new coach, they will probably higher Will Wade who will have them in the dace pretty much every single season.
