I am so disgusted with military I started pulling down all my military plaques, but my son talked me out of it. My youngest is in the AF, his reenlistment date comes up in Nov, he wanted to get out but I have been pushing for him to stay in and make it a career, but now I am fully on board-actually helping him-to get out as early as possible. On average, local departments in and around Hampton Roads and the State Police are down 30% of its officers from last year alone. In 2015, Norfolk had 900 officers. They have around less than 500 today. One department is budgeted to add 35 new officers this year but there are only 10 in the class at the academy. It has gotten so bad a Major told both his sons who are officers to get out of law enforcement. Both are finished this calendar year.

The pandering of the politicians has severely let people down. We are just pawns to them in their bids for re-election. The irony is it is the black communities who suffer from this the most. The police are still patrolling the wealthier neighborhoods just as they always have done. the local politicians know they have to be kept happy because they are the business men in the area and make the local economy and business communities run. Also, they are the people who contribute to their campaigns and have the local influence, allowing them to remain in office. Where do you think the resources come from to keep the affluent neighborhoods safe? They are diverted from the poorer/black communities.

My son in law has an easy job as a police office in Palm Beach. His Dad (who works for the Federal Marshals) and I are trying to convince him to apply for something federally related and get the hell out policing.

A lot of what you said here is true. Money isn't necessarily "diverted" from poor neighborhoods and sent to wealthier ones as much as it's wasted or never spent. Many Black folks have no other choice than to live in some of those crime infested areas and those who can leave do. The misnomer is "no one cares" but the residents who live there care! It was a diabolical attack on America, and Black Americans who were starting to realize Democrat promises of economic emancipation were hollow and empty, while Trump's promise of economic independence through self sufficiency was resonating. If Republicans are smart, they will reprise and extend Trump's economic emancipation policies that benefitted ALL Americans, not just the ones with extra melanin in their skin.
